Rugby Union convert Timana Tahu will return to the NRL next season after agreeing to a three-year deal with his old club Parramatta this week.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal that Tahu and the Eels finalised negotiations on Monday, with the shock switch to be formally announced later this week.

The 29-year-old finished his rugby league career at Parramatta in 2007 after signing a four-year deal with the ARU worth nearly $2 million.

But the switch has not been an enjoyable one for the Newcastle junior, who has spent much of this year’s Super 14 competition on the bench for the Waratahs and failed to claim a start with the Wallabies.

Speculation arose earlier this season that Tahu was poised to join the Roosters, but he denied a return to league was on the cards. Unbeknown to most, however, was a get-out clause in his ARU contract that enabled Tahu to leave at the end of this season.

He has decided to exploit that clause with Parramatta. His signing is a further coup for the club, which recently snared representative props Justin Poore and Shane Shackleton and has began negotiations to wrap up in-form superstar Jarryd Hayne for another three years.

maybe inglis or uate can come acrossas a replacement? or is that wishful thinking...

Israel Foulau is who we want or however you spell it.[/b]

We don't need anymore leaguies. Queensland schoolboys won the Aus championship past four years and dominated the Australia schoolboy squads, expect these talents to come through the ranks. Queensland the true heartland of aus union.

Tahu is a great talent but I think hes too old now. Even when he returns to League I think he will be like his ex teammate Adam McDougall in terms of form, a just does his job guy, no constant big breaks, no more 2 plus tries a game, just a too old basics guy.
Whoever the scout that picks guys from league to play union made a mistake when he chased an old Tahu. It was just a bad choice and arrangement.
Inglis is the man that can strengthen the Wallabies so can Gasnier these 3 and Tuquiri would devastate any back line.

15. Ashleigh/Cooper, Mitchell, O'Connor
14. Inglis
13. Mortlock
12. Gasnier
11. Tuquiri
10. Giteau

There you go the 'tries with ease' Wallabie backline.

As a kiwi an All Black fan I'm happy this team will never happen.
