Another Bristol reported signing, albeit a coaching one

BRISTOL Rugby will reinforce their desire to return to the big time when they confirm next week that former England and Scotland head coach Andy Robinson is their new director of rugby.

Three months after leaving his post with Scotland, the 48-year-old will make a dramatic return to rugby when he is placed in charge of Bristol.

But it is understood Liam Middleton, Bristol’s head coach, is supportive of the appointment and will remain in his current position with his title unaffected.
Middleton will lead the coaching while Robinson oversees the bigger picture, including player recruitment and team strategy.

Bristol are testing me, matching my love and desperation for us to succeed against my sheer dislike for the man.

If he can get us to emulate/better Exeter's achievements then I may forgive him

Apparently there are growing rumours linking Ryan Lamb with a 2 year deal at Leicester. Fingers crossed.

Ryan Lamb seems to be one of those players who show a lot of potential very young, but never really improved on his young self and got rid of his flaws (On the Rugby Club Will Greenwood was criticising his inconsistency. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ar6Ae3WI9y4)). He was touted as a future England fly half as a teenager in 2006/07 (http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/200...sport/2011/dec/25/northampton-ryan-lamb-bath). He's kind of like an English version of Ruaridh Jackson in a way.

Now moving to a fourth Premiership team, after plenty chances at previous 3, I expect he will have to settle for for mainly reserve duties (especially considering England may be using Flood less from now on with Burns and Ford emerging and Farrell looking composed) from now on unless he moves to a low league club.

Lamb gets a hard wrap which he doesn't deserve. Normally from the same people who hounded Spencer out of the club and believed Drahm to be the best player ever.

Real news however, apparently Dowson is to stay at Saints and Nobby West is on the move.

Lamb is still, apparently, a target for Biarritz where he would certainly have the opportunity to gain all the game time he wants and could prove himself capable of taking (amd with out the kicking requirement) as there would be very, very minimal oppostion (Perylongue who is is not up to it and Berquist who in two years has managed only single figure number of games)................

Presuming, correctly, he has little chance of an England call up (he would have to do a Donald twice over to get in the team) I suppose there is an argument to take the money and presume that even dear old Biarritz would pay more for a playing 10 than Leicester would for a subsitute 10 at best?

Kearnan Myall --> Wasps.

Very very very gutted.

Never mind. You still have Gray (probably on biggest wages in the squad), McKenzie and Andrei always Injuredkov in your squad. They should be able to hold their own at least, and it seems sensible to let go a lock in order to strengthen weak areas at front row and centres.

Myall is probably the best lineout forward in the premiership - as our scrum is so terrible it's good to have a strong lineout, especially on opposition throw (where he's topping the steals count for the third season running).
I'd much rather we lost Richie Gray than Myall (though Gray is likely to be off at the end of the season anyhow).

Not really a good thing though, is it? Especially as at the moment he's playing like a horse on LSD

Olyy, I heard that Richie Gray's leaving too. And Seymour. Henry Thomas, Richie Vernon, Amesbury, Miller...

McKenzie's rumour to be off to Newcastle anyway.

End of the day, the arse appears to be falling out of Sale's world.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Vernon and Miller leave - Seymour has said he isn't, regardless of if we drop - Dan Braid too.
Amesbury I'd like to think would stay, but who knows.
Henry has like three years on his contract, but if we drop I imagine he'll go, as he's so close to the England squad.

If we can source a bionic spine for Ostrikov then with him and Holmes we'll be good (presuming Gaskell can get back to his old lineout form).
