Anyone mentioned Brad Thorn to Leinster?

while it would be great he's what 37? I'd rather we sign a younger player (preferably Irish) rather then a one year deal to just delay the need to get a long term deal. I wouldn't want u to end up like Munster's centers.

It's a very short term move, ie. only a few months. If Leo is going to be out for about 10 weeks that'll leave us with only two senior locks. Mark Flanagan looks a prospect and Kevin McLaughlin can do a job if needs be, but a player of Thorne's experience would be a huge asset for the run in.

That's the link to the Brad Thorn to Leinster rumour. Brendan Fanning is the Sunday Independent's main rugby columnist and knows his ****- I'm pretty sure he's the guy who broke the Joe Schmidt to Leinster story when nobody else had a sniff of it.

I'd welcome the move on a short term basis. Steven Sykes has returned to South Africa and Leo Cullen may struggle to be fit in time for the Heineken Cup quarter final. Thorn would be an awesome stopgap. Playing and training alongside him for a couple of months would be of huge benefit to Devin Toner and Mark Flanagan.

I agree, if Thorn was to go to Leinster for a few months he would be a fantastic signing. By all reports his work ethic, both on and off the field, is quite phenomenal - he was still apparently the fittest forward in the AB's at the age of 37! As you say the likes of Toner and Flanagan could learn a huge amount from him (and he's a great player on the field too!).

It would be a fantastic short term move for all the reasons given, but am I allowed to point out the similarities between signing him and the signing of Terblanche, given the heavy criticism Ulster took for signing him?

Good stop gap so probably Thorn and Toner which seeing as Thorn isn't the best lineout jumper Mclaughlin will probably play 6 to add options meaning Seanie at 7.

The criticism Ulster got for signing Terblanche came mainly from Hugh Farrelly, the main proponent in the media of the IRFUs ridiculous new overseas player policy. I found Terblanche an odd signing since Ulster still had all the fullback options available to them that they had in 2010/11 (plus Peter Nelson) and thought Terblanche would only be a sub. He's been an excellent addition to Ulster over the last month. Apparently his work ethic in training is blowing everyone away.

Jason Tovey ---> Blues

Dan Parks ---> Out

Ceri Sweeney ---> Pontypridd

losing Tovey would be a big blow for the Dragons, and a decent signing for the Blues

Bernard Jackman says Parks could become a player/coach at Connacht, to be fair why would Cardiff Blues prolong his contract when he's 33?

RF_Olyy I think once said that MacLeod is rumoured to rejoin the Blues as well, so perhaps Tovey will replace Parks and MacLeod replace Sweeney

Leinster have come out and given the "we don't comment on individual players or speculation" thing. They've also said that they're looking at available second rows. If it was untrue, they'd just flatly deny an approach for Thorn.

Bloody 'eck. What in god's name can Dan Parks teach anyone about rugby?

Nick MacLeod has re-signed for Sale.
We're also in talks with Dwayne Peel (who has already said he wants to stay on, so probably just finalising) and Marc Jones (who is rumoured to want to move back to Wales, but hopefully won't!).

Also about to release the name of the new prop we've signed (no doubt Eifion) and are courting a premiership player (rumoured to be Gopperth, but I hope not)

Can't bear to lose our Jason.
We've got Robling and Jones coming through, but I was hoping there would be more to come from Tovey.

What a backline though!
Williams, Tovey, Robinson, Henson, Roberts, Cuthbert, Halfpenny

Redford Pennycook might be returning to Bristol according to the Evening Post. Apparently the move was sent to the RFU but it's not clear if the paperwork was submitted to the RFU on time to beat the deadline. Announcement to be made early next week

I would be surprised if the Scarlets made any notable signings. They seem more concerned with keeping Davies and others on board (rightly so).

Rumours on MF.com claim Ian Nagle is in Connacht's sights.

Ian Keatley has posted a photo on twitter, retweeted by Damien Varley and Simon Zebo, which hints that Rhys Ruddock has signed for Munster.
