USA news & politics

It's not petty it's being accurate. You implied Biden said that you need F15s to take down his government. You try to frame it as it's essentially the same thing as the Trump apocalypse now meme. It's not.

Now, if Biden had said something like "good one guys, if you ever want to get rid of me then you're going to need F15s to get rid of me then I would oribaoynsay, yeah, that's a pretty unhinged comment. If he is talking in an abstract sense and the context of the conversation is gun control that puts a whole different light on it. What you tried to do is paint it as the same thing until I asked you to provide the context and then the goalposts were moved to a "throwaway comment"

This is exactly what I said above, either you didnt read my comment defending him, or you dont think I was / am defending him, there isnt any framing of the situation, I was on his side hahahaha

That's what you said AFTER I called you up on it. Funny how you didn't provide the context in your initial post isn't it. Thought you could get away with framing Bidens F15 comment as he was referring to his government.

Do you accept then that they are totally different things?

You never called me out, you asked for further context, which i supplied very adequately.

Infact I even mentioned in the original comment:

Did you react like this when Biden said people would need F15s to fight his government? This is the exact same arguments i was making on Bidens behalf, you cannot take every clumsy sentence, meme, or joke and apply the kind of intent to it you wouldnt for your own side.

Had Biden posted this kind of meme it would have humanised him more in my view.

You see where I said it made the arguments against the hysteria against in ON HIS BEHALF?

Biden made a comment, similar to the type hes made before, the hysteria against him was BS.

I have never seen the word noble used to describe Trump, especially not on here, even @ChicagoKid would probably scoff at the idea. It seems like a faux argument of an exaggerated position that noone holds, except for some reason you.
Yeah, I suppose a better word would have been serious. Is he a serious leader? You would expect a leader of a nation to be a serious person but this shows him to be a bit of a clown. I get your point about him triggering his haters but how's that productive for the people of America? This reminds me of pictures a few mates sent me during the invasion of Iraq of billboards of Saddam Hussain on them showing him to be this great military leader etc etc and that's kinda the level this picture is. It's cheesy and frankly unhelpful. Which was the point I was trying to make admittedly with the wrong word.

No, in your first post, where you left out the context of the quote, you tired to imply that what Biden said was comparable to the Trump meme. I personally think, until now, after this back and forth, that you actually knew the context of the Biden quote and you deliberately left it out as you knew it was in no way comparable to Trump posting an apocalypse now meme saying you're going to find out why it's called the department of war.

Can you just admit now, in good faith, that Biden saying in the context of a conversation about gun control, that you would need F15s to take out a government (which renders the argument about needing guns to take on a government) pretty pointless, is totally different to the Trump thing. Can you admit that or do you maintain they are the same, or similar, as you did in your original post?

Yes, you're trying to say they're the same thing.

My last point, and it’s a personal ******* gripe of mine, is people posting quotes out of context. Sometimes it’s innocent or people being ignorant but a lot of the time it’s people being malicious. Mehdi Hasan is very good at this trick and I say that as a person I agree with on most things.

Except i was the one making the irresponsible comment, your talking in hysterics, which is exactly the problem.

Theres a big difference to being irresponsible, making a joke meme based on a movie, and being an authoritarian moronic dictator looking to remove the rule of law and murder American citizens en mass.

Also, me criticising Trump, is not the contrarian position of your hyperbole is it?

You just asked me a question, that I already criticised him for above, I'll copy paste it for you to make it clearer:

"Now if you had responded rationally, and maybe called Trump irresponsible in his social media use, poor taste in the meme, and discussed his rhetoric of being militarised not being helpful to public discourse, id be with you."
Where was the hyperbole? I said it's not acceptable or normal for a president to use the imagery he did.

Do you think it was acceptable or normal? Yes or no?

TBH I would agree with you, he is a bit of a dick, he tweets and truths (is that a thing) like hes a high school student.

I think his sense of humour probably contributes to his likability. If I was to compare him to Mark Drakeford, Drakeford was a very serious guy, but an absolute coward of a politician, and an absolute scumbag to his constituents of which I was one.

Are you ok? Do you need to chat?

Bidens comments on Americans needing F15s was absolutely not an attack on the American people, and I absolutely defended him when he said it, as I have said over and over...

But they are the same, which i said, in that their opposing side reacted hysterically and non honestly!!!!

You've embarrassed yourself here bud, ive never diverted from my position that bumbling words, off the cuff comments, jokes and memes do not make an authoritarian! I defended Biden, I'll defended Trump, and I'll defended the next Republican or Democrat president when the pearl clutching hysteria folk go after them...

In that case then just apologise, only one Of us quoted out of context, because I never quoted, only you did...

When have I defended that, why are you pretending I didnt criticise that?

The hyperbole was you presenting this meme as an intention to mass murders chicagoans... you react like CNN, and you play into hos game.

Id like to say your better than that, but your actions show your not.
