I don't know what changed but I used to really enjoy Grand Strategy and RTS, now I really don't have the patience for them. I guess there must be some "lite" versions, particularly on consoles but I have yet to see anything that grabs me.

Any recommendations?

Side note; Bo Sorcerer boss on Wuchang was a proper pain. Apparently I have failed a summons quest somewhere (very easy to fail quests in this game) so had to do it solo. Got it the boss done earlier, my better half walked in just as I was popping off with both fists in the air. 🥳 Less than enthusiastic, "You did it, then?" with a look 😳😄

Well if you played a lot in the past and you end up looking for some nostalgia, this is currently on sale - £6.80 for all (?) the C&C games
https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/39394/Command__Conquer_The_Ultimate_Collection/
Not sure there anything that scratches the same itch though. I've tried many times to get into grand strategies (both EU IV and CK 3) - I just don't have the time for it nowadays. I had a better go at Stellaris - but I can't go again after one big game. I always tend to keep coming back to some AoE 2 (or the sequels/mythology)

If it is a lite version that is less focused on the combat side of things - I did get some good fun out of Against the Storm. 9 Kings has also looked kinda interesting as a lite version - but is more of a roguelite tbh.

Isn't that collection the old collection? Ie not the remaster?

I've got back into Dawn of War with the re-release. Kinda hoped they'd add a bit more to the game and I'm sure they've mucked around with the key bindings (my muscle memory keeps wanting me to press T to join a hero to a squad rather than C).

One strategy game I found very easy to sink hours into is empires of the undergrowth, you control a colony of ants. Also Rimworld used to be my more relaxed game of choice.

Dawn of War is awesome, especially Winter assault.

I also like Space Marine. Haven't played Space Marine 2 yet.

It is, but I think includes more of the games - is the remaster all of them or limited to C&C/ Red Alert? Their Steam page is a bit vague in terms of exactly what is included in there.

Dawn of War was a great one - glad they've remastered the right game. I was always disappointed with the direction that series took after the first one.

Tbh I didn't mind 2, although it was excessively shiny on release as it was the era of bloom in games. 3 I didn't touch, front flipping Gabriel Angelos in terminator armour put me right off

4 looks like it could be decent, although I had hoped they would move towards even larger scale

I didn't like how they moved away from a single story after Winter Assault

Finished Metal Gear Solid Delta, can't say it was worth full price considering it is just the original game with vastly updated graphics and many many quality of life improvements. Would of much preferred a more open world version of the game. Especially for the jungle and the base.

Back to Star Wars Outlaws which is Ubisoft game I'm actually enjoying. But reality is I'm biding time to Ghost of Yotei

(FFT and Bloodlines 2 also on my radar)

How you finding it (other than enjoying it)?

I'm waiting for it to show up on PS+ or the Ubisoft subscription service but definitely interested to play, I'm a fan of Ubisoft games in general, despite most of the internet gnashing their teeth about them all the time

Still undecided as to whether to buy GoY or BF6 next month - on the one hand BF6 could easily have a terrible launch (which BF games are definitely known for), on the other I'm not sure I've got the time to properly dedicate to GoY and have a few days annual leave in November with now plans, just using up my days off

Also still not played Indiana Jones or the new Mafia game, both of which I really want to

Both of them is the simple answer.

I’m in the same boat as you. I’m going to wait to see how both launches go, then decide

Planning on getting it next weekend - everything I've seen online (avoiding all videos/spoilers so it's just Reddit comments/tweets) says it's amazing though, some saying even better than GoT

I pulled out COD modern warfare again as I fancied a good shooter and oh my goodness I forgot how good it was. Will run through the campaign again and then moan about how all modern games are crap in comparison to the older ones.

Only downside was I nearly gave up trying to install it after about 3 days of trying. It’s someone 150gb on PS4 and had multiple errors when trying to install/ update.

Seriously considering buying a PS5 for it.
I bought a PS5 to play GoT (could've got it on PS4 but decided to wait for the next gen version) - didn't regret it for a second

The GoY console looks really nice but not for almost £100 more than the standard/£200 more than the digital!

On reflection I think PS has the better selection of single player games than Xbox. I've never really been keen on PvP gaming so campaigns are a bigger selling point to me.

Xbox was a present.

Played GoT on PS4 and loved it.
Also liked Horizon Zero Dawn.

Was weighing up whether the pro was worth the outlay

Almost finished Uncharted: Drake's Fortune remaster version. I'd probably like it a lot more if it got the full remake treatment like The Last of Us Part I did. On my PlayStation 5 and way bigger than I had in 2007 TV screen it feels old. Part of me feels like jumping ahead to the 4th game (made for PlayStation 4).

A Thief's End is my favourite in the whole series. Really enjoyed it.

I dig the vibe, characters and general Tomb Raider bits, but the combat has always been meh IMO. Especially the bullet sponginess of the enemies. I don't own a PS5 this gen (I tend to go with best hardware, and the Series X is just that) but I'd definitely buy it again if Sony publish more games on Xbox. At this point I'd normally own all the major consoles too due to price drops but that hasn't happened. Real shame.

I keep meaning to go back to Uncharted (/restart them) - didn't play them when they first came out but got the trilogy on PS+. I tried playing them a year or so ago but the first game bugged out for me at one point (an enemy didn't spawn so I couldn't progress) so I just binned it off

Been playing Ghost of Yotei and absolutely loving it so far

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Remastered I've started and this has carried over. Shoot someone up to 4 times before they die 🧐 It's a better game so far. Being 2 years newer has improved the look and flow.
Yeah, it's a better game all round than the first. I flip flopped between liking 2 or 3 more. Couldn't tell you which is mine currently but both decent if a bit behind 4. I never tried the spin off, which I forgot the name of whilst typing and cannot be bothered to look it up.

Been thinking we are well overdue another Tomb Raider then remembered Embracer group currently have the IP. There goes any hype. Hopefully 4A smash out another great Metro or similar under them, I would hope 4A have been given more free reign.

Indiana Jones was my GOTY. Really hit the sweet spot of exploration, puzzles, narrative and combat wrapped up in a very pretty package.
I just binned it off
You could probably just skip the first game and carry on from 2. Can always watch the cutscenes online too.
