What TV Show's are you watching/looking forward to?

Just started Shogun, having heard so many good things about it.

Weve seen one beheading, and now they're boiling a man to death...

Is this a sign of things to come? in which case, this show is not for me.

Or do I skip forward a couple of minutes and watch the rest?

I've no idea what it is about (especially but not exclusively) American entertainment, that's fine with torture, but horrified with nipples.

There's definitely gore in it but I'd probably say episode one has the worst of it, other than one part of maybe...episode 3?

It's not gore for the sake of gore like a lot of modern horror films, but it doesn't shy away from showing it - and considering the time period and the story, there's going to be some swords being swung

It's not so much gore, it's torture... abuse of a power imbalance (eg rape/assault/severe bullying) that I have difficulty with. Once you've beaten someone, and got them hog tied, execute them, imprison them, whatever. No need to throw them in a big vat of water and light a bonfire underneath it - or at least, no need to show it.

If that's just part of the show, then that's fine, it's not for me. It doesn't have to be for me.
If it's just a one-off, then that's also fine, I'll skip the scene

The pot scene is in the book so it is faithful to the source material and equally as grim.

If anyone fancies a chuckle at American politics, have a look at "Alpha House" on Amazon prime.

It's quite amusing without the inter party attacks and insults.

I have just started watching "Almost Paradise" on Amazon (nothing to do with the bbcs paradise series).

I was always put off a bit by the premise,

"Former DEA Agent Alex Walker, forced into retirement, moves to the island of Cebu in the Philippines. He purchases the hotel gift shop in the hopes of managing his stress and high blood pressure, but the wealthy and criminal element on the island keep drawing him back into law enforcement."

Thinking it was going to be a bit Hawaii 5-O, all guns and firefights.

I have actually been surprised at how relatively light it is, yes guns feature heavily but so does quite a bit of humour. The 2-3 main "Filipino" cast are very good, and work extremely well with Christian Kane, although I don't quite understand why so many seem to have Spanish names, and why they are constantly using American idioms, yes I do know that Cebu has a major US military base but even so.

Anyway I highly recommend it and personally will continue to watch and enjoy it.

Final season of "You" on Netflix

Pretty good, probably a bit better than S4 but way off how good season 1 was - glad that they've called it a day as each season did get a bit worse than the last, so rounding it out with a finale rather than having it just go on and on and fizzle out entirely is the better option

Onto Episode 8 of Season 2 of Andor (will watch 9 later)

I know what they are building to but crikey they really aren't pulling their punches.

Haven't started it yet. How does it compare to S1

I think its about sticking the landing on the last 4 episodes the first 7 episodes are interesting but not barnstormers but you know its about putting pieces in place for where they really want to go. Which they do in episode 8 and I've read Episode 9 as well. So here's hoping.

My only gripe it Season 1 was starting to places in Episode 6 it taken another two to get there in Season 2. However I think Episode 8 is the strongest yet.

Shouldn't admit this on a rugby forum but I cried for a minutes and then needed a good 15mins to decompress from the episode (I'm a bit sleep deprived today which was a factor)

Essentially Season 2 is asking the question how does fascism lead to genocide and the holocaust, the entire previous episodes are about setting pieces in place over 2 years before in episode 8 the extermination essentially begins. None of this should be surprising from a story perspective they will build the Death Star but to see it grounded rather than super laser. For the Irish some the events of Episode 8 are to some degree Bloody Sunday and other similar incidents.

I was watching S1 and started S2 but then just forgot about it. Good reminder to rewatch the first season and continue watching, I remember I liked it
