-----------------------------------------------------

Group C and Group E certainly jump off the chart at you, some cracking matches to look forward to there. All in all there's too many minnows in this world cup so it certainly won't have as many upsets as 2002 did.

Easy draw for England, will win the group and beat the Poles in the last 16, should be a close call against Argentina or Portugal, revenge will be a motivating factor in either tie, can't ever see the English stop complaining about the Hand of God and the Terry goal that never was. Most likely Italy or France would await in the semi final with Brazil in the final. This is the tournament for this England team to win, it's certainly all set up for them now. They might be worth a couple of euro.

The 'Roos didn't get the best draw but it's exciting in a lot of ways. Our record against Japan (5 wins, 5 losses, 4 draws) and Croatia (in our favour) is fairly encouraging and playing Brazil will get the best out of our boys. I wouldn't rule them out of making it to the round of 16.

OK HERE'S MY PREDICTION FOR THE GROUP STAGE
GROUP A
Germany(1ST) easy group for germany, almost seems rigged
<

Costa Rica(4TH)
Poland (2ND)
Ecuador (3RD)

GROUP B
England (1ST)nice group for england but i think they havnt beat'n sweeden in 30 odd years ithink
Paraguay(3RD)
Trinidad & Tobago(4TH)
Sweden (2ND)

GROUP C
Argentina (1ST) group of death 1 the arge/holland match should be a cracker
<

Cote d'Ivoire(4TH)
Serbia & Montenegro(3RD)
Holland (2ND)

GROUP D
Mexico(1ST) nice group for mexico and portugal
Iran(3RD)
Angola(4TH)
Portugal(2ND)

GROUP E
Italy (2ND) group of death 2 but ithink the czech's and italy should be safe
Ghana(3RD)
USA (4TH) i hope the u.s get a reality check and get flogged
<

Czech Republic (1ST)

GROUP F
Brazil (1ST) i like this group for the aussies i think we can get through
Croatia(4TH)
Australia (2ND)
Japan (3RD)

GROUP G
France (1ST) another terrible group france shouldnt have a problem this time(maybe)
<

Switzerland(3RD)
South Korea (2ND)
Togo (4TH)

GROUP H
Spain (1ST) another **** group anyone could take second place
Ukraine(2ND)
Tunisia (3RD)
Saudi Arabia (4TH)

I'm pleased.

We should top that group with relative ease although the Swedes have been a thorn in our side for years and years.

The Socceroos' dream is over before it started - you may beat Japan but both Croatia and Brazil are superior sides.

If Croatia is superior it is only because they poached Australian players. I really don't think they'll be much tougher than Uruguay in most aspects.

Right time for my predictions.....

GROUP A
Germany (1st)
Costa Rica (4th)
Poland (2nd)
Ecuador (3rd)

GROUP B
England (1st)
Paraguay (3rd)
Trinidad & Tobago (4th)
Sweden (2nd)

GROUP C
Argentina (2nd)
Cote d'Ivoire (3rd) - they have some top European players in there
Serbia & Montenegro (4th)
Holland (1st)

GROUP D
Mexico (1st)
Iran (3rd)
Angola (4th)
Portugal (2nd)

GROUP E
Italy (1st)
Ghana (4th)
USA (2nd)
Czech Republic (3rd)

GROUP F
Brazil (1st)
Croatia (4th)
Australia (2nd)
Japan (3rd)

Gonna be a very tough group for second place me thinks.....

GROUP G
France (1st)
Switzerland (3rd)
South Korea (2nd)
Togo (4th)

GROUP H
Spain (1st)
Ukraine (2nd)
Tunisia (3rd)
Saudi Arabia (4th)

Croatia isn't superior they have a pretty good defence thats about it.
They always seem to get it together for World Cups. I'm certainly glad England didn't draw them, they're a tough side to beat.

ok here the predicitons that matter

World Cup finals draw

GROUP A
Germany -1
Costa Rica -2
Poland -3
Ecuador -4

GROUP B
England -1
Paraguay -3

GROUP G
France -1

Alright then if we're making predictions

GROUP A
Germany - 1
Costa Rica - 4
Poland - 2
Ecuador - 3

GROUP B
England - 1
Paraguay - 3
Trinidad & Tobago - 4
Sweden - 2

GROUP C
Argentina - 2
Cote d'Ivoire - 4
Serbia & Montenegro - 3
Holland - 1

GROUP D
Mexico - 2
Iran - 3
Angola - 4
Portugal - 1

GROUP E
Italy - 2
Ghana - 4
USA - 3
Czech Republic - 1

GROUP F
Brazil - 1
Croatia - 3
Australia - 2
Japan - 4

GROUP G
France - 1
Switzerland - 2
South Korea - 3
Togo - 4

GROUP H
Spain - 2
Ukraine - 1
Tunisia - 3
Saudi Arabia - 4

So that gives us

Germany v Sweden - Ger
Holland v Mexico - Hol
England v Poland - Eng
Portugal v Argentina - Arg
Czech Rep v Australia - Cze
France v Spain - Fra
Brazil v Italy - Bra
Ukraine v Switzerland - Ukr

leading to

Germany v Holland - Hol
Czech Rep v Fra - Cze
England v Argentina - Eng
Brazil v Ukraine - Bra

followed by

Holland v Czech Rep - Cze
England v Brazil - Bra

so
Holland v England - Eng

and
Czech Rep v Brazil - Brazil

and there you have it, no point in watching it now really, thought England and Brazil could only meet in the final but was wrong about that.

who's your tip for the golden boot?

i'll go with Tevez seeing as Brazil has so many goal scorers(Ronaldinho,Adriano,Ronaldo,Robinho,Kaka..etc)

Wayne Rooney. [/b]
With England at least making the semi finals there'd be good value in that, although Michael Owen would be worth a few quid as well.

both Croatia and Brazil are superior sides.
Croatia superior

So Malta is a POWERHOUSE

Croatia are as good as Uraguay.............far from superior.

Cant argue with Brazil though

the golden boot - adriano - thats if he actually gets picked in the starting 11.

Croatia are always a good team in knockout tournaments.

Well they were shite at Euro 2004 and didn't look that much better in Korea/Japan. Resentment and bitterness are powerful tools, used wisely and there's 3 points waiting there for the Aussies.

I do think that the Australians can beat them, I do however think that Croatia are the better team if they play their best on the day.

Alright then, both are well capable of beating each other, but the reason I'd go with the Aussies to qualify is that I think they'll get off to a decent start with a win against Japan, Croatia will lose to Brazil, most likely by more than the Aussies and at the very least I think the Aussies will get a draw out of the last match with Croatia, so they'll go through. Playing at full pelt I think they're evenly matched plus the Aussies have a better coach as well which helps.

I'd like to see the Aussies sneak through, but not at Croatia's expense. I have a long running thing with the Croats - I won a lot of money on them finishing 3rd at the 1998 World Cup. The production line that had Suker, Simic, Stanic, Prosineski et al may have dried up but they still play fabulous football and hopefully will play the cult comedy figure of the World Cup, Igor Biscan.
