A Political Thread pt. 2

Also, I don't know if anyone can confirm this (I saw it on a TLDR video, but can't remember which one), couldn't we have scrapped VAT on energy even if we were part of the EU still? I'm sure it's the same for tampons. Basically EU rules have a minimum VAT, but that only applies if you tax in the first place. Basically countries can scrap the tax whenever they want, but if they want to tax they have to set it at the minimum. Another lie by Brexiteers on the benefits of leaving the EU.

Seeing him sat there really makes you wonder how much life would be different if we had gone for "chaos with ed milliband" instead of the descending into Hell with dodgy Dave
Yeah but have you SEEN the guy try to eat a sandwich? No way we can have such a person running the country!

This is what we need! Look at that, 2 British flags! You just know he has only what's best for the country at heart.

5th advisor resigns.

Johnson trying to spin this as him making the changes the Gray report suggested. I'm assuming most people can see through that BS.

I still love that someone made a little pedestal for him - possibly the most British thing ever
Or someone’s just photoshopped and superimposed it in front of Larry? Still very cute and hilarious, I agree.

All jumping before they get fired because they were all at the parties?

So at a time when inflation is already running high and due to get even worse the bank of England says workers should NOT ask for large pay rises!? WTF. Is this guy insane? An excess of disposable income is not what is driving the current inflation.

It's because it could lead to inflation increasing even more and then it might actually hit the wealthy, not just the poor.

No. 10 about now...

And you just know employers are going to use this as an excuse not to give pay rises.

So I was watching this video and it got me thinking ()

So we are currently in the middle of an energy crisis which has sent bills skyrocketing. The latest rise alone to the cap is nearly £700. Sunak has suggested most households will receive £350 to help, but from what I gather than isn't a one off payment to help, but will come from the tax payer in other ways and so actually most people will get very little. Also the £200 part will come over 5 years, so whoop di do.

However, what I was thinking about was this process:

1. Price of energy goes up.
2. Energy companies pass that cost onto consumers so that they don't lose money.
3. People on benefits are not allowed to claim emergency money to help with bills.
4. Instead they have to go to their energy company to organise some debt relief support (which I'm not an expert on, but I imagine involves a loan and is actually more expensive in the long run, (see Vimes theory).
5. People are also told not to ask for wage increases to help support themselves.

Basically, the entire system is designed to **** over poorer people.

Pretty much. Repaying what this Government give people back via energy bills in next 5 years. So just partial cash flow help.
