Also, I don't know if anyone can confirm this (I saw it on a TLDR video, but can't remember which one), couldn't we have scrapped VAT on energy even if we were part of the EU still? I'm sure it's the same for tampons. Basically EU rules have a minimum VAT, but that only applies if you tax in the first place. Basically countries can scrap the tax whenever they want, but if they want to tax they have to set it at the minimum. Another lie by Brexiteers on the benefits of leaving the EU.
