He's also in Dodgeball, seemed like a good guy.

I mean the dude was a far right republican...sadly. He definitely more a Charlton Heston type on one hand he did some pretty good stuff (HIV/AIDS support) and pretty terrible stuff (was an Obama birthed and wrote for some far-right oranisations).

(Heston was huge on civil rights bit also yeah NRA)

Personally I can let the yanks off the whole gun stuff. It’s contrary to my views but guns to them is like fish and chips to us. It’s second nature.

My general opinion was I enjoyed it but felt there was too much humour which undercut it a few places. Its basically the same issue I had with The Martian.

I felt there was quite a bit of humour in the books, they kind of laugh through their troubles

As ever - humans are complex creatures with multiple opinions (and actions), some of which are good, and some of which are bad - and an even be directly contradictory.

Years ago I watched 1928/29 Best Picture winner The Broadway Melody. That was a tough sitting because characters sing in it but nobody has remastered/restored the movie so it sounds bad.

over all i loved it, something was going to have to give and i think theyre approach was probably the choice, they hit all the major plot point, didn't truncate it....which meant they just had to skip over some stuff lightly, in a montage for example, still visually impressive, great music, teary in places, laughs in other

Did you watch the mid credits scene (quite litreally the worse mid credits scene ever because its actually the last scene of the movie rather than something tacked on for fun). When I saw in the cinema a few weeks ago many people got up and left before they saw it....why youd get up before lights go up and in the middle of amazing blues music is still madness but still.

Based on the graphic novel "Woman of Tomorrow" by all accounts it's meant to be pretty close to the source material. Which is heavily inspired by True Grit.

Looks heavily influenced by James Gunn going to DC movies. Looking forward to it.

Yeah its very ouvre of Gunn rather than copying Guardian aesthetics (plus Marvel/DC don't really have diffrent ideas about cosmic universes visually).

Thoroughly enjoyed Sinners. Doesn't feel like the kid of film that's made often. Almost like a mash up of 2 completely separate films, but that really worked for me. Michael B Jordan is so good as well, so never bad to have him twice in a film!

Dune 2 (as it's finally up on a streaming platform now)

Definitely enjoyed it, not sure if I enjoyed it more than the first one though - looking forward to the third one either way, just the cast list is crazy/a real who's-who of top drawer modern actors

Dune 1 was really refreshing as a blockbuster movie taking itself seriously. A movie with that tone and budget and actually being really good felt rare. Part Two I like too but it couldn't have the surprise/novelty of 1. I saw Villeneuve is leaving as director after the upcoming 3rd movie. Do the books after the 2 he's adapting read like a new story not a continuation? I know Frank Herbert wrote 6 Dune books not 2. I haven't read any.

Dune 1 was really refreshing as a blockbuster movie taking itself seriously. A movie with that tone and budget and actually being really good felt rare. Part Two I like too but it couldn't have the surprise/novelty of 1. I saw Villeneuve is leaving as director after the upcoming 3rd movie. The books drop in quality massively as time goes on diffrent people have diffrent opinions when your should stop.

Dune Messiah was more or less written because people didn't get Paul wasn't a good guy and this hones in on that. I like the book I was little surprised they chose to adapt it considering how well Part 2 adapted the second part of Dune and getting that message across.

Children of Dune changes the focus characters to Paul's children and brings in the whole Leto II turning into a frigging sandworm nonsence. I can't see them doing it.

This reminds me of Hyperion Cantos book series by Dan Simmons even though I haven't read it. Heard many praise the first book Hyperion (about a group of people including a robot on a pilgrimage to an alien world) but lots of the same readers drop off before the fourth, final book.

Havnt really caught many movies last 18 months or so...

Rhought id watch Predator Badlands last night, i didnt hate Prey, and i probably should have hated the 2 others predators and the predator? More than i did...

But **** me badlands was incredibly bad!!!

Why does every new movie have to have a querky quick talking younger middle aged not very attractive woman in them killing any sort of suspense or action? Who is that for?

Also, why does everything have to be care bears, Avatar wannabe these days?

Whos idea was it to make the meanest killing creature in the universe a runty little daddy issues nobody who finds out the power of friendship is more important than every instinct and thing hes learnt since he first opened his eyes?!?!

I cant explain how much i hated this film, it took me straight back to the remake of the Thing, and the rage i felt there too!!!!

I liked it. Admittedly in a guilty pleasures kinda way but it seems we can’t even agree on movies. At least you like Wu-Tang, though, so you’re not all bad.
