Help Support The Rugby Forum:

So Luke McAllister has signed a two-year contract with Toulon when rumour had it that he was going to La Rochelle.
Apparently to replace Matt Giteau - hardly a like for like replacement. Strange as Trinh Duc and Bernard will be ahead of him in the number 10 pecking order.
Still no indication of a move for Toby Flood, whose contract with Toulouse ends this season.

Flood's contract won't be renewed from what I've heard. We have signed Zack Holmes from La Rochelle.

Heard Thomas Ramos (20) currently on loan with Colomiers (ProD2) from Stade Toulousain might be back. He's current top kicker in ProD2. He is ex academy and contracted with Toulouse until 2018. Could be the answer to our kicking woes.

Taute has been signed on at least until the seasons end it's finally been confirmed. Unrelated to transfers, but Sweetnam will be out for 6 bloody weeks after that hit he took. Also I looked into that Ben Smith thing for a second and the idiot who posted the rumor said he'd be playing within a few weeks against Glasgow despite not being in our European quad. Yeah makes perrrrrrfect sense to waste money on a guy who can't even represent us in Europe.

heard he was going to be made Co Captain with Beaumont next season like a backs leader.

orange believes that Phillips model looks will help bring in a crowd already marketing him as Rugby's Gary Barlow.......

If anyone thinks we're still in the running for signing Ford (if we ever really were) they need their head checking!
Depends when the contract was signed.

I wonder if Ford agreed to return to Leicester on condition that he wasn't coached by Cockers...

Quite honestly, if George really is off, rather than boosting his Bath paycheck, nowhere looks viable. Leicester, Gloucester and Saints going to be under new management, Sale in a dog fight and potentially under new management, Exeter, Wasps and Sarries not needing him badly enough to justify his salary regardless of transfer fee, Quins have made their play at FH and can't afford him, Newcastle can't afford him, and the least said about Bristol, Wuss or LIrish the better.

Mind you, the rumour has never made much/any rugby sense.

Ah we don't need him (George Ford)...we have Joel Hodgson ripping it up at the moment...and Catterick back finally from injury.

Add in Willis (who looks like hes moving to 12 permanently) and Brett Connon (Ireland U20 FH) and we're just fine.

Its other areas we need to look at.

If Flood's available, I'd happily have him at Quins. I'd much rather a second playmaker at 12 than Jamie Roberts ...

The DTH move is as good as confirmed now. Interesting reports seem to suggest he may be coming as a 13 right enough which we desperately need...and would also mean we may keep hold of Watson!

Handy player to have anyway; and entering his latter years as a pro.
Wo'nt be playing for Wales any more, and covers 10,12 and 15 more than adequately.
Yeah, he could have gotten a better chance at game-time elsewhere; but it would have been further from home and no better paid. As you say, with GF off either this year or next; he'll still get plenty of game-time; and from a Bath perspective, means we only have to look for 1 FH, not 2. Whoever comes in, Rhys will fancy his chances of being selected on merit too - especially now that Mike left.

I'm not saying I'd have been surprised to see him go; just that I'm also not surprised he's staying put.

God that is the most bland player signing announcement I have seen.

No idea what's going on with Saints right now (asides from making losing look easy) but is this due to injury crisis or something?

I remember a few years ago Wasps would sign anyone for a few months just to tide the club over. I remember genuinely thinking Tinus Du Plessis was an incredible signing - that's how bad things got. As you say, the blandness of this announcement makes me think it's not a first choice signing!

Re. Bath....if rumours are to be believed that Ford still wants out, maybe he'll head back to Leicester with Cockerill gone, leaving a nice void for Priestland at Bath.... #completelyunfoundedspeculation
