A Political Thread pt. 2

Canada, Australia and Romania all had right wing parties with a clear lead that are rapidly reversed when Trump took office, so no, not just 1 case.

I'm assuming you mean this year, I wouldn't add Romania, that's a mess who voted the right, and allegations of French and Russian meddling makes it merky.

But are you suggesting the decade long rise of reactionary politics, is somehow being undone by Trump's unpopularity in 2025?

It's clear that right wing parties are going from set to win to not winning and that drop coincides with Trump.

Lol way to strawman. I'm saying people who were closest to him and worked with him say he's stupid, a clear distinction you ignored, funny that. So you ignore the opinions of those closest to him to judge his character and ability?

I didn't say my family member met Trump, I said they spoke with people who worked with him, but again you dismiss first hand testimony from those closest to him.

No it doesn't. Statistically the Trump organisation has performed worse than the market averages and a lot of what you listed as "achievements" weren't that. You lost having a degree but then dismiss the opinion of those who lectured him. I've personally seen people who bought their way through a degree. You have no idea what his grade was but generally people who aren't idiots don't have their professors saying they are the most stupid student they ever taught.

Simple question, is Marjorie Taylor Greene an idiot?

Mate this is getting bad, I implore you to find some middle ground, because your family member meeting someone who met Donald Trump, and relaying that information to you, is definitively NOT 1st hand testimony, and I just can't accept a stranger on the internaet, who has a family member, who knows a guy, who met Trump, is a reliable source for IQ determination. You get how crazy that sounds right?!

And your evidence is Canada? because Romania and Aus have different issues and reasonings outside of Trump.

I mean, your not going to acknowledge why, in the last decade far right parties are up there competing for governments, or winning government's?

I agree there may be a counter turn to this decade long trend, Portugal, and Poland are on the brink, but you don't see the issue as 'omg the far right are now fighting for control'? Instead you celebrate the odd retaliatory victory ?

Your not paying attention my friend, thisnis why I keep banging on about how dangerous your guys attitudes are, and how it's fueling far right sentiment.

Not sure I can get my head round this. The fisherman wanted Brexit, then they complained that it was making them bankrupt because they couldn't sell their fish abroad or sell their licences to french trawlermen and now there is a deal they are moaning they have been betrayed etc etc. I do have sympathy with fisherman but FFS what do they ******* want?

The fishing industry only represents 0.4% of GDP. The only reason it has received way more limelight than it should have is because Brexiteer politicians realise that it's a territorial issue and know that the narrative of EU fishermen invading our waters is going to be red meat for nationalists and anti EU voters. Farming, food and most other sectors deserve way more air time.

even worse it's 0.04%

The whole EU deal is likely to boost GDP by 0.3% by 2040 so it's not exactly earth shattering either tbh.

I think a reset and thawing of relations was badly needed given the trade we have with the EU. Hopefully it's the first step of several.
Agreed. It couldn't be anything too daring - the Br*****rs are already weaponising it - so test the waters a bit, show the EU we're not going to scupper the deal before the ink is dry and work from there.

I don’t really think the convo of whether Trump is smart or not particularly constructive (FWIW I think he’s at best average intelligence and at worst pretty thick even on the things he says he’s smart about like business) but wasn’t there that thing a while back that said if Trump had taken his inheritance back in the day and stuck it in a index fund he’d be richer than he is today.

He’s an entertainer, a great game show host but that’s about it. Hence why most of his money prior to becoming POTUS was from the apprentice and not him being a business/retail mogul.

Absolute ********, it's 3 counties where there has been a drastic swing away from them and that is entirely on Trump, nothing else has happened to have caused the sudden swing away.

Our attitudes are not fueling far right sentiment. Immigration and a lack of wealth going to the masses in society is what is fueling it, same as it always has. The culture wars crap is largely driven by the far right. Take the whole hysterics about trans bathroom use, the whole trans sexual predators in women's toilets is a purely fabricated scenario intended to get the far right angry and has zero basis in reality. It's quite telling that, when asked about women who transitioned to be male and look male, which bathroom they should use, the far right suddenly don't have a ******* clue because they haven't thought beyond their specific fictional scenario.
