Neither of these countries were 'drastic swings' were they, let's be honest. The hard right increases are continual, I don't think banning the AFD or imprisoning Lepen stops that threat.
I'll give you, immigration and lack of wealth are huge factors, and I 100% agree the trans issue in any other era would be a minor one, led by hard-line feminists and hardcore Muslims, not aligned though, but today, where every issue promoted to good and bad it's gone front and centre. And it's front and centre because of attitudes like this.

The reluctance to be honest, the hysteria and emotional disregulation to Trump spills to all areas of discussion, not just in tiny little threads like this, but in leaders, like David Lammy lol
We don't counter hard right attitudes without integrity, and if that means enduring leaders we don't like, holding them to true account for acts they've done, and taking the narrative back from sensationalism and rage bait from journalism
