A Political Thread pt. 2

It's office workers. In any other job, you would get called out for being so unproductive and incompetent, but for some reason they don't seem have the same system. If they screw up, no action is taken and it's lead to just accepting it as normal.
Not sure about that. My few experiences of office work in the private sector have shown a real lack of motivation to sack or manage out anyone who isn't up to the job, has a bad attitude etc. They tend to get moved around like Catholic priests but never managed out until there is a round of redundancy and they get a pay out

Especially poor managers!

My wife works for the local council. Can't say i hear much inefficiencies definitely a lack of staff to do work well as everyone's overloaded. Have to deal with a lot of the public who think they know better or are entitled as **** though.

Exactly. They're not sacked, just moved around to cause issues elsewhere.

When they screw up on basic stuff, it's not entitled. They're just pointing out the bleeding obvious.

My friend in the midlands was called in for not paying his tax...turns out, they hadn't even checked their own system which showed he had paid it all straight away. Wasted his time, the councils and the courts. Clowns.

You realise that system is pretty much automated? And clerical errors will always happen.

Why the hell did it go to courts? One phone call would of sorted it out of they genuinely had. Sounds to me your friend didn't try to sort the problem until the courts summons. Or didn't understand the complexity of the mistake and it wasn't a simple "just check the system".

They tried multiple times, but they wouldn't do anything. Just kept sending snotty letters. Stop defending stupidity.

Given most of my works enforcement and legal. People get a lot of letters and contact before it hits court.

Plus the court system is so jammed your talking several months to a year before court. Most people have plenty of time to sort things out. You'll get the odd few who will drag it out just to have the "Aha see i didn't do it" moment in court just wasting everyone's time.

And if you've told them time after time and they do nothing, this is also the result.

I deal with council tax issues constantly, 3 calls last week for threats of court summons for kids I personally sent the council tax exceptions forms in for.

Thank christ I document every call and email, when speaking to these people their only answer is 'computer says no'.

I recently sent telephone records, email trails and letter receipts to a case manager, for a 12 month ongoing charge for a single 18 year old disabled girl, despite documenting the exemption, AND receiving the confirmation, AND having social services and GP supporting documents... case manager thanked me for my efforts but said her hands were tied lol.

It finally got sorted when the ombudsman and local MP got involved and made it higher profile ffs.

It's tragic, isn't it. Remember one case where they kept trying to stop some work being done due to the road. They kept trying and trying and we (the company) kept telling them it's a private road and what they were quoting has no authority. It just didn't sink in. We sent all the documentation etc required multiple times, but they just never bothered opening the damn file. Got it done in the end.

On another case, we put plans in and waited months for a reply. When we finally got one it was a rejection for something we hadn't even applied for. 😂

BBC News - At least 27 Palestinians killed by Israeli fire near aid centre, Gaza authorities say

Yet another story of Israelis opening fire near aid centres. I cannot believe this is accidental.

Story from Hamas, refuted by Humanitarian foundation. Be careful what you take as fact.

And neither are trustworthy IMO, sorry I was kind of making that point but it was worded poorly
I think one fascinating thing to consider from a historical/sociological point of view is that in wars gone by you never heard about it. Even wars in the last 10-20 years where you’ve had mobile phones and internet and what not it’s not come close to amount of info people are bombarded with about this war (or genocide depending on your viewpoint)

It certainly has been an accelerant, the problem is it's also made things less reliable.

The question is can Hamas, or Zelensky oust their opposing leader before total capitulation?

The danger of misinformation...
