They also said in their manifesto that they wouldn’t increase NI or taxes on working people, but then she increased Employer’s NI. Which is a tax which will be passed onto working people.
Lots of rumours and speculation like last year. But in the end she’ll be constrained and also not ******* off anymore voting people that are keeping Labour in power.
Reducing allowances and reliefs is the most likely to not grab as many headlines than increasing rates, which just grab the headlines too much. More subtle changes like freezing PAs and thresholds for longer and letting fiscal drag do its job instead.

Not sure what angle you can spin it. She's the 5th Labour minister having to resign. Either It does show Starmer holds people to high standards.
Or people will see it as they are all the same, and no better than the other lot.

I think hes intimating towards vote of no confidence, early elections etc...
Its his usual, whenever there is upheaval hes whispering in the background.
Starmer tested the water a bit on Rayner, told her to hang on to see if it blew over, but you have to give it to him, on indiscretion hes pretty solid.
In todays world?
They'd have used them on credit the previous year and already be -7 down before the new year struck!

This specific case aside, I've always found the idea of having ministers who get shuffled repeatedly such a stupid system. How can you ever get to grips with big issues when ministers may not be in post for more than a few years, and that's before you factor in elections.
