A Political Thread pt. 2

I would say it's a bit different for Jews with regards to them feeling safe. Jews, understandably given their history of being killed everywhere they go, are hyper sensitive/aware to this kind of stuff. I would say anti semitism is unique in that everyone hates the Jews. From left to right, poor to rich, communist to capitalists, Muslims to Christian's etc etc so it's a little bit different than celebrities.

You could argue this fear borders to the point of paranoia but you could also argue it's logical given the history of the last 2000 years or so and how they've been ethnically cleansed and genocided from pretty much every country they've gone to.

Having said that you kind of get BS vibes from this person. I mean, calling up a radio show to say this? Possibly (I wouldn't rule it out) but I would say she's frustrated with the decision more than anything else.

I think Starmer handled it well. You could question the timing but to be honest the timing is always ****** anyway. He clearly said Hamas have no business in the future of Palestine.

I'm glad you gave credit to Starmer there. At the presser with Trump he said exactly the same and it earned him a pat on the back from the orange one. He rightly condemned Hamas, called them terrorists and made clear that they can play no part in governing anything after the war ends. He also reiterated his desire to get the hostages freed.

The rhetoric used by the Israeli Govt in response is lazy, repetitive and offensive in suggesting that Starmer is rewarding Jihadists. It's almost like they didn't listen to a word he said. Britain recognising Palestine shouldn't have come as a shock given that it has never shifted it's pro two state solution position. Biden also supported this - it's only Trump who has changed his country's position. Britain and France are meant to be allies of Israel and I would hope we would help defend them if they came under attack from Iran or it's proxies in the future. It's no wonder Netanyahu and his far right cronies get so much criticism. Even Trump had the diplomacy to say that he disagreed with Starmer without slinging mud and saying offensive things.

What is the public support for a two state solution? I was under the belief if was low 30-40% with the public in both countries. That's without Hamas and the Israel government support.

Equaly you'd need to remove the current Israel and Hamas governments. Which also seems a none starter. Unless there a plans to topple both. Which never ends well in the middle east.

Doesn't seem in all honesty something you can force on both countries.

It might be low but they need to understand its the only solution that doesn't end with one of them wiped out.

This is the type of mentality I don't understand.

"Forced to leave the UK.... At some point in the future.... To go to our homeland..."

Sounds a bit of an exaggeration if you think the UK is not a place for Jews because of the recognition of Palestine, yet are not leaving immediately.

**** off then, hope the door hits you on the way out.

So events stopped for safety reasons in Spain, Italy sees nearly 100 officers injured, 900 arrests at Palestine action UK, 300 arrests and mass violence in Paris a few days ago...

It feels like tensions are rising, Jews are being told to **** off back to where you come from, and the right wing spheres online are a buzz of deportations and getting rid of Islam in Europe, even having hundreds of thousands marching through the streets...

Are we nearing a fever pitch moment, or is this just the start?

Definitely "**** off back to your own country" vibes going around at the moment from the left towards Jews.
It’s not “**** off to your own country” as most of these people don’t think they should have their own country. It’s more like “**** off out of my country and carry on being a people with no home.”
