Anthony Mundine vs. Danny Green

Mundine will have Roy Jones Snr training him and in his corner for the fight......... his Dad cost him the Kessler and Siaca fight IMO, Mundine thought he was up on the scorecards in both those fights and played it safe in the final rounds.......his Dad is just too quiet and relaxed with his instructions, he needs a good cornerman and Jones snr is one of the best.

ROY JONES Snr JOINS MUNDINE

Mundine, Jones knuckle down

ANTHONY Mundine might be sparring without his trainer and father, Tony, by his side, but he wasted little time today settling in with legendary American trainer Roy Jones Snr.

Jones flew into Sydney early today and immediately linked up with Mundine, four weeks away from his super-middleweight non-***le fight with Danny Green at Aussie Stadium in Sydney.

"To the boxing fraternity worldwide, Roy Jones Snr's reputation precedes him, and he is renowned and known as one of the best in the world," Mundine's manager, Khoder Nasser, said.

"If you were in any field, you would need to look up people who are world renowned in your game, and that's what we've done."

Jones Snr â€" father of American boxing champion Roy Jones Jnr â€" has long been a part of Mundine's inner circle, albeit from his home base in Florida, from where he has stayed in regular contact.

"When you talk about (Jones Snr), you don't talk about specifics, you're talking about an encyclopedia, you're talking about A-Z, there can be anything, and he knows it," Nasser said.

"The guy is born and bred in the sport."

While Tony Mundine is still at odds with his son for undisclosed reasons, there is hope the former Australian middle and heavyweight champion will return to Anthony's famously tight-knit camp.

"(There were) a few things I didn't like. I want to quit ... and just concentrate on my life," Tony Mundine told the Nine Network yesterday.

Nasser claimed Anthony, a former rugby league star with St George-Illawarra, liked to think of everyone around him as being part of a team, and that a father-son reunion wouldn't be ruled out.
"Our team is all here and we're all getting ready, not just Anthony, because that's what we are, we're a team," Nasser said.

"However, right now, Choc is in training, and his condition, four weeks out, is pretty good."

Roy Jones snr is the perfect guy to train him as you can see that Mundine bases his style on Jones jr

Granted the RJ camp is world best standard in boxing

The man Mundine is no Roy Junior

Its like getting the best Rugby coach in world rugby coach the Georgians...the same result will apply with a decent boxer

Danny Green is past his best and thats all mundine has going for him

Mundine has his best ahead of him if he keeps that trap shut and just box

Take a leaf out of Kostya Zyu's books.................the best mentally prepared boxer in the history of boxing

Mundine cares for show more than result

The Machine :box:
The Man :injured:

In just over a fortnight, "The Machine" will finally get to shut the motor mouth up. I will be heading to a mate's house to watch the fight, with plenty of booze. Mundine's gonna hit da floor.

I might watch this in the hope that mundine will lose. Not very likely though.

I will probably watch it more because Shane Cameron (NZ) is one of the undercard fights. I believe John Hopoate is the other.

I hope Green knocks that Mundine's lights out.

Mundine = AQ sympathiser
Mundine = Whiny spoilt little brat
Mundine = A guy who won't respect the 99 NRL GF outcome
Mundine = annoying little piece of faecal matter

Record Breaking 50,000 crowd expected for Green-Mundine fight

Not only is it expected to be the biggest fight in Australian history, the Mundine-Green battle may set crowd records, writes Brad Walter.

THE Anthony Mundine-Danny Green fight is set to become the biggest sporting event staged at Aussie Stadium, with a further 7000 tickets to be released for $40 each.

With the cheapest seats previously available priced at $95, the new batch of tickets will enable up to 50,000 people to attend, creating the potential for the largest gate in Australian boxing history.

The record attendance for a sporting event at Aussie Stadium was for the 1993 football World Cup qualifying match between Australia and a Diego Maradona-led Argentina, when 43,967 fans crammed into the venue that has an official seating capacity of 41,159.

Major sporting fixtures, such as the A-League football final, the coming Super 14 final if NSW finish first, or the final of the rugby league Tri-Nations tournament at the end of the season, generate about $4 million in revenue from attracting a full house at Aussie Stadium based on average ticket prices of $100.

But tickets for the Mundine-Green bout range up to $1000, and the stadium's capacity has been increased by the inclusion of 140 tables and 6500 seats on the playing field.

All of the $1000 tickets have been sold, along with the tables, valued at up to $8000 each.

"The corporate support for this event has been phenomenal but we needed that corporate support to pay all of the bills," Mundine's manager, Khoder Nasser, said. "This will be the biggest gate ever in Australia for two individuals and it is probably the first major sporting event in Australia without any government support.

"We are doing this without government support but we always knew the public would support it. The people had demanded this fight for five years and in the end the Mundine and Green camps bowed to the public's demands."

The installation of a second big screen at Aussie Stadium should ensure that everyone has a good view of the action next Wednesday night, which will include up to 14 undercard bouts.

With ticket sales going well, Nasser said both camps wanted to ensure the fight was affordable for all fans, with the release of the additional tickets.

"This should offer everyone a chance to be a part of history, part of the event - a one-off event that will be the biggest non-world ***le fight in the history of boxing," Nasser said. Mundine and Green will today appear at separate press conferences at Aussie Stadium.

Green's manager, Justin Manolikos, said the Perth fighter planned to continue sparring with Sam Soliman until Saturday. Green had finished two weeks of sparring with 27-year-old cruiserweight Christian Cruz after Rubin Williams struck visa problems.

In other boxing news, Australia's world flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan has been promised a fight which he believes will be on the undercard of WBC heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman's ***le defence against leading challenger Oleg Maskaev in Las Vegas in August.

But the 30-year-old Sydneysider first has to successfully defend his IBF and IBO ***les against unbeaten Mexican Luis Maldonado in Las Vegas next month. The fight is part of the undercard of the much-awaited third bout between WBC lightweight champion Diego Corrales and Jose Luis Castillo on June 3.

Darchinyan will today travel to Phoenix, where he will do a week's fitness work under Jeff Fenech before heading to Los Angeles for at least six sparring sessions.

Among the opponents Darchinyan is scheduled to spar with are Mexico's WBC super-bantamweight champion Israel Vazquez, who is trained in the US by Australian Justin Fortune.

Another potential sparring partner is the man from whom Vazquez took the ***le, Mexican Oscar Larios.

Darchinyan will miss the fight between Green, a former flatmate, and Mundine. He felt Green would win because he was mentally tougher.

JOE CALZAGHE!!!!
Umm...........there's two other Super Middleweight Champs and guess what?...... he hasn't fought either.

Calzaghe is great but he hasn't fought any of the other current top 5 Super Middleweight's....... he should concentrate on fighting the best in his division because odds are he'll get murdered if he goes up or down in weight class.

This fight is a bigger fight than Calzaghe has ever had..........so knob-off.

Mundine will win this... It'll be close, but I think Mundine will just have too much speed.

LETS GET READY TO RUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so excited to see mundine eat canvas...........i wanna see his ego drop to reality and show him he is a nuffy in anything he tries - excpet talking

I am GREEN MACHINE ALL THE WAY BABY

However

My $$ is going to 2 results

Green KO in the 5th
DRAW

I will never be surprised if this is rigged for a DRAW and a re-match for all in the circle to cash in twice in the biggest boxing spectical in australia.

We are minnows in the boxing world and the $$ going around for this fight is unheard of for an aussie biff...........watch out for a DRAW so they can cash in twice.

Boxing is always controversial..........this fight has been talked up for 5 yrs........get ready for a non-result, and some disapointment on everyone face, except myself with $10.00 @ $19.00 DRAW.......$190.00 thanks for coming, which will be punted on the re-match!!!!! :bleh!:

pffft!!! you have a big banner of danny green yet you slate joe calzaghe? your an idiot...

youll find that most people that know anything about boxing have joe in theyre top p4p fighters. i dont see Mikkel Kessler or Markus Beyer in that list. infact, the guy most pundints see as 2nd best in the super middleweight division is Jeff Lacey who got his arse handed to him by Calzaghe recently.

Kessler is a good fighter no doubt, but hes not as good as Calzaghe yet. you only rate him coz he whooped your hero danny green's arse twice.

....so f*** off.....
