TRF friend and fantastic source for all news that is within America's rugby Paul Tait, has told me and posted on his blog of some potentially massive changes on the cards for Argentine rugby in the next three years. The article can be found here.

Amongst the most important points.

1) Centrally contracting a pool of 40 players for the National team and to eventually move to a barring of players playing overseas from International duty.

2) A Super Rugby franchise to be approved (possibly as early as February 2014) with a goal of possibly adding a 2nd franchise down the line.

3) Pampas XV side to enter a new competition, possibly with Tier two sides or Oz clubs.

Professionalism is waaayyy overdue in the UAR camp and any move towards this I applaud, it's been clear since they joined TRC, that they don't have the depth to both play in that competition and the June/November internationals with a weakened side. The conflicting schedules of the European leagues and TRC made this virtually impossible from the start.

I know Paul Tait, he writes for a rugby website in Argentina (Rugby Fun) I'm a regular reader of this website, in fact almost every day I read that website, so I have read most of the articles that Paul wrote, I know his ideas.

I think he's a bit exaggerated, but has good ideas sometimes seem to be too optimistic. Not sure if he knows thoroughly the reality of Argentina, he says many things, but I don't believe that all things that he says will happen.

Cheers

As great as it is that the Pumas are in the Championships I cant see how it will work travel wise to be part of the Super Championships. Unless they break it down to NZ, Argies, Islands in 1 group and Aussies, Africans and Japan in another.

very good news, and very good results in potential to occur. I hope this works out well for them, and their SR team doesn't look like Zebra in the European championships.
Rugby is an old tradition in Argentina, and they ought to seriously fight for it.
Good initiative.

Unfortunately all those news aren't confirmed yet, so it's kinda hard to read that article when you know those things may not happen. I also read this guys blog from time to time, and I think he's very optimistic, something that isn't neccesary bad... but you know, when you are informing people you always have to speak with the truth, not with speculations or assumptions.
