GTA:IV

ok so why did gametrailers make it lose .2 of a point, do they just not give out 10's? same with xbox world 360 what happened to that 2%? :) or did they just use the same scoring system?

cricky its going to be awesome, comes out in 10 hours here, though i still wont get it til tomorrow.

Dunno, maybe a 10 out of 10 is theoretically impossible? Basically says there's nothing that could have been better. As awesome as it'll be, perfect it won't be.

Less than 3 hours till GTA4 goodness...

I am the first on forum to announce that I have it!

Installing on the HDD as I type! Will I be first to visit Honkers though?

Great fun. Did 2.5% before bed. Would play longer, but there's going to be plenty of time. Money well spent. Game design is great. Couldn't grade it properly till I've played longer, but I'd say it deserves 90% at least.

Whether that means it deserves it's 10/10 and 100/100 scores is a matter for judgement when I've played a hell of a lot more. Which I will.

Wow. I think god ejaculated a video game out of himself. Immediately the fun of good old random GTA fun was available. Went into multiplayer, was pretty laggy as expected, but that actually kind of added to the hilarity. Tried Cops n Robbers and Mafiya work and Free roam. Took a helicopter around the city, only to find that when I got out on a building top, I got told the game was taking me back to where everyone else was at airport.

Too tired, more tomorrow :)

i have it, i am sitting here at work with the big safty deposit box and reading the manual and all the extra stuff as well. will put the gta radio soundtrack on in the car on the way home.

so not looking forward to the rest of hte day, its going to go so slow.

i need a coffee...

argh

Mine just got delivered to work. I have bronchitis so I could quite easily pull a sickie.

well i have been playing it non stop since i got home, really tired now its been about 6 hours of game play. sorry radman i tried to join your games i dont know what was going on there, i want to get into the single player for a bit and get them to iron out some of the multiplayer bugs before i try again, maybe in a couple of days :)

i just got off the first island, done about 13%, the execution thing was wicked. also the choice weather to kill someone or not sometimes was a nice touch.

graphics are pretty damn sweet, only glitch i have seen is being in a tunnel and its still raining, through the roof, which was weird. the rain is cool, nicely done. the characters and the cars are top notch. the story has brought me in like no other gta has done before. all the other ones i have done i just felt like going around and killing people. this one it makes me want to stay a bit low, not get caught by the cops (yet to be busted though they have wasted me about 3 times) its facinating, and they dialogue is funny :)

cant wait to get onto the main part of Liberty City, i want to roam around central park, and go down times square. i am loving it!!!

glad i got off now though.

when i get home tomorrow from work i have a couple of tv shows to watch then back into it again :)

Bugger that woosaah, download those eps, play GTA4 for ages, then watch all ur eps, get them out of the way and back into it!

haha well i have them downloaded, watching one now :)

how far through are everyone else?

Lol I have that problem too at school reading Craigs comments. Actually people look at me funny anywhere when I am reading Craigs comments ha! Lucky my gf understands that I no longer go out with that girl....hehe....

I stole the photo from you when I was up in Wellington and you thought we were both taking a post-travel nap, lol!

No one napped in Welly because my snoring strategy was in place....everyone was too bleary eyed to play properly and couldn't tackle. Anyway I finished with her because she started going on and on about wanting to go to live in the South Island. Then one day she was copying out phone numbers off my phone....I thought it was just some friends for this barbie we were organising. I saw the paper with the numbers on and it turns out it had YOUR number on it (as well as my contacts for discount viagra). I put it all together and confronted her about it...she just went into a raging fit and took off that night. The next morning I found in one of her jeans pockets photos of YOU from the welly tournamemtn that I had taken.

Anyway...with GTA:IV.

I have to be honest and say that I personally went off GTA after San Andreas was released. I thought the game was ok...not really my thing. The first one was a novel concept and I liked the way you could explore (I was always looking for naked ladies in hidden corners hehe in the cities) but after a while the repetitous nature of hijacking cars and shooting things up began to bore me as I wanted to interact more lol (like stalking females and trying and inititate sex). Another thing that disappointed me was the GRAPHICS. I understand that a game that big had to cut down a bit on graphical detail but still I wanted it to be great visually. When Oblivion and Assasins Creed came out the graphics fulfilled my need for visual beauty in a big large world game.

To be VERY honest I have no idea at all about GTA: IV and what happens or what the game looks like. I have heard that you can create and online gang and that sounds quite cool (who doesn't at heart want to be in the toughest gang beating up other gangs). I have not seen what it looks like visually or have any idea about the framerate and what engine they are using. So I am a bit of a biased ignorant judge on this game. However my flatmates son is into GTA games and he will very probably hire it out.

I can say one thing though....if the visuals are as good as Assasins Creed then I will immediately be a fan as I love fine details in a game that show up the game developers skills and attention to detail.

if you can check out www.gtagaming.com you will see some graphics there and some info about the game. I loved playing it :) i recommend hiring it out if you arnt a big GTA fan. I wasnt really after the first one (the old top down view from 97 was my favourite) but i really like this one.

cant wait to go home from work just to play the game, i havnt felt like this about a game for a long time.

I haven't been so absorbed into a game like this for a long time.

The attention to detail is stunning. All of the little things like doing burnouts, and popping the tyres and bumping over a bums fire drum and parking your car on it and having it engulf your car and blow it up then burn out, standing on a curb one foot on the road and one leg up on the footpath, stealling someones car and driving off with them hanging on to it for dear life, driving slowly so they keep hanging on, the physics engine really shows doing this, once you've had enough with the hanger onner side swipe an oncoming vehicle to get rid of them.

I'm only up to just after the gun cover practice mission but unlike the other games I see myself actually finishing this one. There is just something about it that demands me to owe it that much.

Played a couple games online, I am preferring the Midnight club style races as they seem to be the only ones that work properly for me.

So far 9.6/10 Dropped points for online.

haha some of that stuff i havnt even thought of, like the burnouts to pop tyres and stuff.

i tried the six axis stuff for the bike and i didnt like it i kept forgetting that i had it on and when i jumped on a bike i would go around in a circle and fall off. ill play with that sort of stuff once i have done a bit more to the game. i am like you and really feel the game deserves to be played through. They have put so much effort into the single player and it just feels nice to play.

i have got 199 flying rats left to kill, i saw one and though it was a weapon or something took me ages to get to it and it was a freaking pigeon so i shot it and straight after the cops were after me.

thats the thing i dont like is i "accidently" shoot instead of running or something and there is a cop right there and i have to run and get out of the way. its just a button config thing, ill get used to it.

i have been drunk, that was fun, hard work to walk, i kept falling over. Tried to drive and that was even worse, the cops were chasing me cause i was a drunk driver, halarious :)

been to a caberet show, that was... random. and got lucky a few times with michelle, i can see her being a bit needy soon, but its a nice distraction from the game :)

i have just opened up the strip club so i am keen to go there just for the hell of it :)
