Ma Nonu and who in the current crop of pro players can you still see playing at this level in their 40's?

Some others I found who have played over 20 years at the highest level (professional only)

  • Simon Shaw - Bath debut 1990, last game Toulon, 2013. - So 23 years
  • Brad Thorn - Bris Broncos debut 1994, last game Leicester 2015 - So 21 years
  • Jimmy Gopperth - Welly Lions debut 2003, last game Provence 2025 - So 22 years
  • Gareth Llewellyn - Neath debut 1988 (this was in amateur years), last game 2008 Bristol - So 20 years
  • Peter Stringer - Munster debut 1998, Last game W Warriors 2018 - So 20 years
  • Ma Nonu - Welly Lions debut 2002, still playing - So 23 years and counting
  • Richard Wigglesworth: Sale Sharks debut 2002, Last game Leicester Tigers 2022 - So 20 years

Two decades really is crazy, I've been trying to think of more but I'll think of someone who felt like they were around forever and then it turns out they're 5 years shy

Like Nathan Hines: 16-18yrs (depending if you count his years in League before moving to Union)

Parisse was a pro for 20 years and international for 17.

In the amateur era it would be hard to top Hugo Porta. One club man for 24 years, 19 as an international for Los Pumas.
