NFL

It was a such a brave move to make on behalf of the saints, and the colts nearly got to the ball, but as the saying goes, "He who dares, prospers."
They tried their luck in a move that looked like it was filled with desperation, but in fact was just genius. Even if they didn't pull off the kick, big deal. They were only a few points behind with the best offence in the NFL backing them up.

Well, because they made it, it's the greatest onside kick in playoff history, if they didn't make I think that would have been huge. You're talking giving Payton Manning, who was then still in confident Payton mode, which is to say THE best quarterback in the game on his way to being considered the greatest Qb of all time, the ball with a short field which essentially means a touchdown and huge momentum swing. Up to that point the Colts were pretty well commanding in the way they played and were looking like they were just not going to get beaten. 17-6 with your offense not looking particularly prolific, well that's a pretty big hole to get out of. But to the winner goes the spoils and they went balls out with a risky play and it changed the course of the game. I was reading an acticle and it pointed out how after the receiving team gets caught on one of those surprise onside kicks and doesn`t get the ball back they get *****ed out for 5 mins by their special teams coach that the next kickoff they all wait and stare at the ball before it flies over their head before they start running back. Which is not only funny but it's true.
