Springboks vs Wallabies, 4 Sep 2010, Bloemfontein

The Wallabies are due for a win and the Bok's still havn't impressed. Hopefully another open affair due to nothing being on the line bar bragging rights. Wouldn't mind if the Bok's beat the Wallabies up though, soften them up for the ABs haha.

I have one question/comment about Steyn that I ask SA fans to comment on.

Due you think that Frans Steyn, by going to Europe, is basically doing a Percy? And as such will come back to SA a much better and mature player?
It did Percy the world of good, and I'm hoping it does the same for Frans. Immensely talented, but needs to grow up, and living away from home tends to do that to you. Then there's the argument that NH Rugby is not played at the pace of SH Rugby and might mess around with him in the long run. Who knows?

Australia changes... a little.

Mumm out, in Mark Chisholm, Saia Fainga'a will be on the bench, for more experienced hooker Stephen Moore. Brown is also on the bench, due to the start of Ben McCalman

15 Kurtley Beale
14 James O'Connor
13 Adam Ashley-Cooper
12 Matt Giteau
11 Drew Mitchell
10 Quade Cooper
9 Will Genia
8 Ben McCalman
7 David Pocock
6 Rocky Elsom (c)
5 Nathan Sharpe
4 Mark Chisholm
3 Salesi Ma'afu
2 Stephen Moore
1 Benn Robinson

Replacements: 16 Saia Fainga'a, 17 James Slipper, 18 Dean Mumm, 19 Richard Brown, 20 Luke Burgess, 21 Berrick Barnes, 22 Anthony Fainga'a.

I don't know why Deans didn't use Chisholm before... was he injuried?

What happened to Higginbotham, after his injury last saturday?

on top of that, Moore plays with Chisholm and I think he has played with Sharpe too, so it could be better having some more team-work

To me spies seems much more at home on the High Veldt, he was almost a non factor in the two tests in New Zealand. Read totally dominated him. But he looked much better in that last test agains the AB's maybe not quite so much against Aussie. He still is a guy who can make a read difference. But he does seem to lack on defence and at the breakdown...

I don't think Saia Fainga'a should have been taken off. So what he had a bad game, if Daniel Carter had a bad game he wouldnt be benched the week after.

Fainga'a is a really good player and they say Moore looked alot better when he replaced him late in the second half...

Umm that's what replacements are supposed to do because they're fresh legs. Look at Israel Dagg, he came on late against the Boks and scored a beautiful try evading Burger, Spies, Botha, Aplon and Kirchner.. .He was fresh, looking to impress his coaches with little time he had and he had a huge amount of fuel to burn compared to the tiring Boks. Then scored the winning try against the Boks in Soweto.. Yet he will not be put on the field before Rokocoko or Muliaina.

Give Fainga'a a chance.

I just think Spies is tired after a massive season winning the Super14 just like Morne Steyn and Matfield. You can see they do not have the form they had during the S14 season. It wouldn't be a step down to put Kankowski in the 8th position especially when you realize he has the same qualities and is on better form than Spies at the moment.

Player burnout??...very possible the 3 mentioned did play an extra game compared to most of the Super 14 teams due to their progression to the finals. As well as other reasons that I can go on about but cant be stuffed.

Spies reminds me of Jerome Kaino when Kaino was starting out in the international scene. Hot and cold, hot and cold I think maybe with more experience will we get to see more of the good side of Spies. We all know hes fast and strong but he seems unsure of things at times. Still a good player IMO and one for the future. Kankowski he's good too, he's the finn in the Sharks pack. Two very good number 8s, what more can you say...

haha yeah well i'm pretty new to it. i only bet if there's a good chance of a win so i can earn some extra leisure/grocery money for the week lol its a hard life being a uni student! good luck to the both of us :)

Nice to see/read a fellow punter, good odds with the Wallabies lol (thats not the only reason why Im backing the Wallies) hope its a good game too. 12 or less for me too.

U gonna lose some more money this w\end ! Boks by 14 , Sparty now runs and hide lol

Believe me Sparty it was a very hard decision to make. We all know its hard to bet against the 'Boks at home or anywhere for that matter but I only make one bet only on these games (I can simply make a few bets but Im a stingy savings freak thats not to say I wouldnt buy you a beer, cos I love to shout) thats my policy 1 bet on sports and 1 lotto ticket for the week lol thats responsible gambling. Its good fun though especially when your team scores and wins because you can feel the win too.

HA but I won money last week as I put a GOOD amount on the 'boks.

Quick turnover ball for Australia and out to another early lead.
