Suggestions/ideas for Rugby 2012

I have read some great ideas and personally i think that the next rugby game has a lot to do and the only way that it is going to be successfull is if it just takes all that is said in the forum and run with it bit by bit. The only way that your going to keep rugby a quality game that gamers will actually enjoy and buy is if it exceeds all expectations. I don't think you should even attempt to create another rugby game if your not 100% sure that it's going to please all the possible gamers that will eventually buy it. Im sick of seeing minor adjustments to the last series, if your going to do another rugby game you have to do it bigger and better than the last by at least 50%. I have a few suggestions that may improve the game:

1. I'll start from the beginning, the licenseing is a big issue. Get it or don't bother.
2. Different playing modes to make it more exciting eg. Manager mode, this will bring a whole different level to the game. Also a training mode that gets a little more in-depth.
3. National Anthems - They should be completely played out maybe in a dramatic more theatrical scene maybe real life sort of clip
4. Haka - The All Blacks aren't the only team that do the haka. Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, and the NZ maori all have different haka
5. More detail in the stadium and on the field. Better graphics pretty much
6. New law interpretations to be implemented.
7. Kick off restarts - Maybe before a kick off you can choose a formation of deffence and attack which ever controller you may be. Have 4 different formations in attack and 4 different formations in defence for kick offs. Adds a little variety to the game.
8. Everyone knows the tackling needs ajusting. Get rid of the superman tackle and just add more variation to how you are tackled. Also get rid of the offside line that holds players back, its absolutely crap cause it slows the players down. If they are offside penalise them simple. Also retreating players should be offside until the are behind the advantage line. Also get rid of the deleborate high tackle.
9. Quicker service from the ruck depending on how you are tackled also maybe an offload option from the ground as players do offload from the ground if they aren't completely tackled.
10. More calls from the ruck, halfback should have forward moves and back moves. maybe an option appears and you decide either to do a back move or a forward move.

I have so much improvements that I think are nessecary for the game. I believe rugby has a long way to go in gaming and i would love to play the next game and be like, "this is a real rugby game". I'll post more improvements at a later time. I have more in depth discussion about the 10 I have just posted if any one has questions. I am pretty good at rugby08 and enjoy it but believe i am limited still.

asking for a bit much, i would buy the game if it just had a good manager mode in it .
 
Problems with Rugby 08 that need to be fixed ...

- ANIMATIONS, there werent enough tackle, try, kick, step animations ( maybe use a new physics system like in Nba Elite 11 ) .
- TRIES, if the player was close to the line he would get trapped in an animation and somehow he would get a try ( add tackles that 'hold up' the ball carrier if hes about to score ) .
- PASSING, the cut out pass needs to be added, in 08 you could only skip one player and the ball would float and get intercepted nearly every time .
- OFFLOAD, the offload in 08 was pretty good but again predictable animations because of the lack of them .
- TRY SCORING, scoring in the corner should be added where the player is aware of the dead ball line and puts it down just in time b4 he gets tackled ( maybe have a stat for it like elusiveness or agility ) .
- COUNTER ATTACK, ca in 08 was fun with guys like Jason Robinson, the only problem was the CPU would never do it to you, they would just kick it .

- TEAMS, teams should have there own ability, e.g. Kicking, Running, etc same for defense .
 
definately agee with changing stats frequently with real data online, more competitions - currie cup and new zealand provincial competitions, i think a test season building up to the world cup would be cool so if you were new zealand you'd play super 15 to select the team4 4 nations and other test matches then end of year tour etc..
also i'd love to see some more unlockables like old school players like zinzan brook and jonah lomu etc....
i definately thonk the world league would be better if you could completely make and name your own team with a starting budget or something.
also the commentating needs to be improved and updated and make sure new zealand has the kapa o panga haka 2!!!
 
hey everyone, we must remember that the money involved in making the next rugby game is not as much as EA use to fund their american games so saying that, some of the ideas on here are to overboard. we played 08 religiously out my ways and have had many memorable games. we always played p2p rather the challenge the a.i. the a.i on 08 is not up to scratch which made playing it dreadfull. you need more levels of difficulty and maybe the hardest would be "real" hard. the a.i also needs to play with structure and a certain gameplan to their strengths which can be exploited by a player who is good enough.

there were flaws in rugby 08 but the way we played it was that you were not allowed to use such flaws which made our rugby games epic but if you played to the flaws, yes the game is fustrating and stupid. eg, 5m lineout from opposition tryline and throwing it to the back, 9/10 times would result in a try.

now with the money to spend in mind, 08 was not that bad just needed minor touch ups. use 08 as a platform with these changes.

* defence. more options needed. types of defence: kick, flat, blitz/rushing, standard, drift, tight, wide and so on. note that the blitz defence would be used to shutdown a backline move, charge down a dropkick or keep the attack from making the advantage line but when not executed well, the attacking team finds itself in ample space with a good chance of scoring. blitz defence is aggresive and when executed right, that team has a real good chance of a turnover but you would not use it everytime. maybe a few times in a game because when you miss with the blitz attack it will leave your team very vulnerable.
* different types of tackles deppending on the angle you approach. someone brought up a hitstick option, that would work.
*more lineout options
*double joystick the scrum. one for power and the other for angle with gauges. make the scrum a real battle.
*fix up all kicks with option to cancel. grubber kick needs to be more realistic. when you grubber it shouldnt always go straight, make the a.i change it up so it has odd bounces. makes the chase better. PLEASE put in a chip kick, thats what 08 needed. a chip and chase is one of the reasons why we all love rugby. apply the odd bounce to all kicks. im not saying all all the time but make it an lottery.
*like defence, there should be attack formats. like flat, wide, pick and go, one offs off the ruck (the old ACT BRUMBIES style of rugby), hands and so on
* personalised attacking set plays.
*rucks need more attention. heres an idea, when someone gets tackled, you can highlight players closest to the ruck to enter. it will make every breakdown a challenge and one well worth it. when a player gets exposed this will be a fair measure. also give forwards more credit than backs at the breakdown. say a player gets tackled and i highlight the nearest players to enter, one forward and 3 backs and the attacking player higlights 3 forwards to enter, he should be able to secure cos he has 3 specialised forwards. backs on backs in the rucks would be equal therfore numbers would determine it, same as forwards on forwards.
*this one is major, when running with the ball, no player in history can run fullspeed ahead then turn 90degrees instantly. i hate when players play like this lol which is why we dont because its unrealistic. please work on this, make it more realistic with turntime and all that. same on defence.
*we need heaps of options and tournaments to keep us occupied till the next game comes out.
*these would be the main points. anything else would be a bonus.

Rugby 2012 Suggestion - New mode

I think what this game needs is a mode similar to Fifa 10's be a pro mode or NBA 2K10s mode where you can start your own career as a rugby player and take control of a single man on the field. You will have to make your own tackles, run dummies follow the moves for your team to win. I just feel that a mode like this will greatly increase the excitement, longevity and depth of the game as this will be a favoured mode.

Please comment if you think that a mode such as this will be a good idea. I am really looking forward to this game abd hope it will be amazing and bring popularity back into rugby games.
 
How bout being able to choose what version of Rugby you want to play ie. 15's, 10' or 7's? When it really comes down to it thou the only reason why I've kept with playing EA Sports Rugby since 1996 was because of the gameplay. You could have all the name, kits, teams etc. of your most favourtie players in the world but if the gameplay sucks than nobody would play it.

Extra things like having a ref on the field would be nice but it's no use if he keeps getting in the way or doesn't play advantage for long enough or too short. The rules are one of the most criticle aspects of playing the game. The new rules like passing it back into your own 22m than kicking it straight out being taken back to where the kick was made should be incorporated but also have an option to turn these sorts of things on/off.

I'd like to create my own team or player and have like a career mode where I could train them/him. Have proper Rugby trainings to improve your players stats with him starting from 50 in every stat according to his position and building your way up to 100 with each training. So for example backs would tend to do more running drils whereas the forwards would tend to hit the weights more and do more strength rather than cardio exercises.

Also a little feature I noticed that the Rugby ***les have never had is being able to watch the cpu go at it with teams of your choice. It's should be simple because it's featured in nearly every other ***le Ea make.

Is their going to be more adaptations on tournaments? Such as Super 14 being transistioned to Super 15? What about man of the match ideas? And commentary I would love to play in Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa, and have Tony Johnson and Grant Nisbett, or Greg Martin and Phil Kearns, or the South African commentators that would be good.
 
and be a pro mode could be a great idea, or franchise mode. Could do a feature where you can create a player and take him through each level of development; Such as Club, Provincial, First Class, International Level. Along the way the player has to manage himself off the pitch as well as on the pitch, you are his agent and you have to manage his saleries and such could be a though to consider.
 
a detailed create a team, where you can lead your team through different divisions

create a player- like fifa, with your rating judged by positioning, attempted and sucsessful tackles, and caps
and allow the player to be any position( forwards or backs)

high amount of licensed teams

and sevens option
 
an indepth manager mode would be better than an average manager mode and an average be a pro. to do two good ones will probably cost too much. id much prefer the gameplay to improve little bits and an indepth manager mode than to create a be a pro type game.

the training could be brought in to this by having a real indepth manager mode where you have the option to train the team and individuals (option is yours, you could sim the trainig or take part). training obviously upto you to choose, weights sessions, tackling sessions, attack sessions, 7a side session amongst the squad for cardio, skill, speed and even team moral.

it has the potential to be a great manager mode. i hope all this is possible.

when players are out of position, PLEASE make them not drop the ball constantly.

man of the match award, player of the season, young player of the season, try of the season, team of the season for each league in the manager mode.

Suggestion on updating Uniforms and Roster and better game face for the players for the Manu Samoa, Fiji and Tonga teams. As the Recent Rugby 08 Manu Samoa Uniform is wrong with blue pants when it should be white pants. Famous names like Brina Lima, Nicky Little are named Laima and Large, respectfully in the 08 rugby. Most Pacific Island players have proven top class performance in both Northern and Southern Hemisphere rugby, Like the Tuilagi Brother, both Henry Tuilagi and Alesana Tuilagi deserve signature moves with their hard tackling and break tackles. The Speed and side Step of Sailosi Tagicakipau, David Lemi, Lome Faatau and hard tackles of Brian Lima Known as the Chiropractor. . YouTube these names and you will see what I mean. Also including the Pacific Nations cup in the competition mode, including Junior All Blacks, Australia A, Tonga, Samoa, Fiji and Japan.


Pacific Island Haka:

Similar to the All Blacks Haka being included in the 08 suggest the Pacific Islands Manu Samoa, Tonga & Fiji Wardance to be included in the Rugby 12 as some have already suggested.


IRB 7s Circuit:

Including a IRB 7s circuit in the competition mode would make this game a big hit. 7s rugby is know world wide, including all the 7s rugby roster with respective star players and Teams to be included. With the freedom to chose international players from the 15 aside international teams. there has never been a 7s rugby game before so why not start by including it in the competition mode for rugby 12. And also remember 7s ruby will be included in the World Summer Olympics 2016. Samoa and Fiji are respectful top Teams in the IRB 7s League.</m:defjc></m:rmargin></m:lmargin></m:dispdef></m:smallfrac>
 
Rugby 2012

Just make sure theres an online play, play against people around the world like COD, bring in the new competitions The Tri Nations with Argentina in it, 6 Nations, Lions Tour, Super 15, ITM Cup, Currie Cup, Magners Premiership and top 14, NZ Maoris, Pacific Island Team, 7s, World Cup, World Cup Qualifiers maybe, use the ITM cup to build new players to sign to super 15 franchises and so on to get depth in the game, same as curries cup and the other leagues.

I think if you have been selected for an international team or have gone up from ITM cup or currie cup in to super 15 your stats should increase. Old School games with the replica jerseys and balls they use to play with back in the days. Get rid of star players, make create a player more realistic, and better quality, get the licensing for all the brands for boots and headgears and so on, creating your own team, and been able to have sponsors on the jerseys.

For the gameplay just fix up the kicking, dont copy anything from madden maybe only using the right analog for offence doing better steps and fending.
In gameplay should be able to pull up moves like on 2K10 just use the pad to call up simple moves in general play like a cut, or getting the man to run a dummy line, offloads a bit more realistic, Stadiums with out containers in the background, more options in scoring try e.g better dives, or just putting the ball down with out getting tackled out. Not every player follows the ball so you don't leave big gaps in field. Game plans before games, like when you play S.A they play the kicking game, and Euro teams the forwards play, and NZ the Expansive game.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but it probably has.

There needs to be consequences for quiting mid game. Big problem on rugby league live is the amount of sore losers who quit when losing by too much or right at the end if they know they gonna lose.
 
Dunno if this has already been said but I would like to be able to run in a diagonal line on the PC (rather than tapping left & up/.down repeatedly)

To do that the sprint button should be something else rather than the space bar.
 
in rugby 2012, it think it would be great to have more kicking options. in 08 you could use chip kicks but only in set moves. there should be a chip kick option aswell as grubbers, punts and up and unders. rating of the players is big matter. young players need to be ranked properly, unlike rugby 08 where if someone had not been heard of, they were given any statistics (example: lachy turner. australian winger for the waratahs. in rugby 08 he has a speed of 48. it is absurd to think a winger on any rugby team in the world, can be ranked with the speed of 48). this meaning mostly that players such as david pocock, quade cooper, will genia, james o'connor (wallabies) and the other young players in rugby union playing at the higher levels should have proper ratings unlike false ratings they were given in rugby 2008 to save time. everything else i have read sounds awesome, cant wait for it to come out.
