The English Rugby Stadium/Attendance thread

Well all i can say that Bath rugby and Bath town are incredibly lucky to have a man as generous as Bruce Craig who is willing to lose money to keep this Rec dream alive.

Bath could fill 18/20k+ week in week out easily.

It would be great if the council and the club could work together to do something for as you say, it is a great place to visit on match days.

I'm not quite as in on the details as some are, but I don't believe the council are the problem - it's a small group (you could count them with both hands) of NIMBY's who have a disproportionate effect on the situation due to some of the technicalities that arise from Rec's charitable status.

It's very rare to see a visiting player say anything good about the Allianz/Kingston Park pitches.

did these guys never play mini-rugby? end of year Rugby festivals on rock hard May/June pitches? Knees had just about healed by pre-seaosn :)

I remember my brother having to get plastic skin put on in the st johns between each game one year (his team won).

Photo updates of the Olympic stadium's reconfiguration for those interested - compare the new position of the floodlights with the original setup - they now form a "halo" around the lip of the roof, rather than standing above the stadium.
The last cluster of lights went up a few days ago, and the roof will duly be finished soon too, I reckon. Sorry for the enormous photos . EDIT: They were actually much larger before the auto downsize!

EDIT: Photos have disappeared - view them here: http://www.whufc.london/feed.html

Anyone have an update on how the attendances are doing at wasps?

I've heard 16-18k expected for the chiefs game, but we'll see. Tigers game is on track for a sellout I believe, already passed 28k and therefore likely the record.

Bristol's Ashton Gate stadium is currently being redeveloped into a 27,000 all seat stadium
This is what we can expect to see when its finished.
It was a sad day when we had to leave our beloved Memorial Stadium, she served us well god bless her but the Future is bright.
I Suspect our nearest and dearest (Bath and Glouc) will help to fill a few seats should Bristol ever manage to navagate their way through the Pray offs (as known locally )

Bath fans what is the news on your stadium plans?
Last I remember seeing is were appealing thr Charity Tribunal's decision but that was May last year.

It's an annoying theres overwhelming support for it in all interested parties just a bunch of do gooders plus the law on the rec charitable status stopping it from happening.

Tigers have booked a Desso pitch for NEXT summer.

The pitch WILL be wider and longer and new grass on it.

But we are def getting a Desso pitch.

Good effort, I look forward to the day when every single premiership side has one, and of proper dimensions too!

Any word on specifically how big they are going to make it?

No word on the actually dimensions yet. Although we are still taking away the old stand so might hear more on it in the future.

Apparently it would have been sooner if they hadn't missed the window of booking it. (Only 2 desso machines in the UK).
