The Hyundai A-League is heading into its 3rd season. for those of you that haven't heard of it before its Australia's national football comp.
The teams are as follows:
Melbourne Victory
Adelaide United
Perth Glory
Sydney FC
Queensland Roar
Central Coast Mariners
Newcastle Jets
Wellington Phoenix
its pre season at the moment so if anyone has any pre season news(signings etc) about there favorite team they can post it in here.
I haven't been a fan of the A-League before but ive decided to support the new team the Wellington Phoenix as if we (NZ) don't make something out of this franchise then we wont be seeing pro football in our country for a loooong time.
The 'nix have signed the following players so far:
Daniel (Brazil), Steven O'Dor, Vince Lia, Ross Aloisi, Richard Johnson, Michael Ferrante (Australia), Costa Barbarouses, Mark Paston, Glen Moss, Steven Old and Tim Brown (New Zealand).
Rumor is rife that the 'nix are on the verge of signing retired Brazilian international Juninho.
This thread isn't just for Aussies & Kiwis. As the competition basically goes during the European off season perhaps some of our northern friends could adopt a team and barrack for them during the season. Sure the quality is nowhere near premier league standard but its miles better then what was down this way. And it's getting better.
