Still absolute silcence on all things Falcons, especially releases and new signings but some suggestion Kiran McDonald our lock has posted he is leaving.
Just been having a quick browse and looks like he's not played in Japan (yet? has their season finished?)
Not sure what that implies, really - don't think we'd have released him mid-season unless he fully wanted to leave, so did he:
a) Think he was fit enough to play, go to Japan for some cash and an easier play style, but end up not being
b) Get an offer from Tigers to rehab in Japan and join them next season (basically employ him but off the books until next season?)
c) Kinda know that he wasn't gonna play this season and want to get some cash while rehabbing in advance of joining Worcester?
Apparently Worcester fan in the know, knows 100% he's not going to Worcester (Could be a red herring).
I suspect out of the 3 it might be B especially if we knew Cole was on the verge of retiring. Might not be like we employed him.
My theory might be that Sale offered him a much lower contract next season, he didn't want to take it. So both him and Sale knew he was off end of season, Tigers comes in and show interest for next season and present Schonert a chance to train and maybe play in Japan to prove his fitness.
Just seems a lot of weird coincidences like Cole retiring, him joining a partner club in Japan randomly and not playing for them and us signing his sister in law. Guess we will see.
I think long term injuries don't get their full salary as it gets paid from their insurance, so could explain why he looked to leave tbh

More of a runner than a playmaker (not that he's bad at that anyway) but yeah, be a great signing for you I reckon
Yeah, definitely a different type of player, and we do like the dual playmakers. New attack coach coming in though, I suppose, not like we're cemented in to one playstyle
Do feel like we'd need another 10 as well as the coaches obviously don't trust Curtis, with how little he's featured

Yeah, Bailey or Atkinson would fill the gap perfectly tbh, as we've no real 15 cover either with Addison leaving (got Luke James who's been injured for about 18 months, Aaron Reed who's played there once and Ollie Davies who's 18)
Doubt either would move anything other than a starting role though, tbh

Bailey is much more realistic than it was a couple of months ago, with Carreras arriving, Donoghue exploding onto the scene, and now Russell extending.
He's too good to be sitting behind 3 options
He must be getting frustrated
and you have the promising young U18 10 in Linegar coming up.
