Hello i'm french.
I have a question.
Yesterday i have watched the superbowl(Foot US) and me i don't like Football US.
Before north american play rugby.
For me Foot US is not interesting.
I would like to know if american play rugby?
Do they like rugby?it is popular?
Rugby in north america expand?, growing?
Do you think that Rugby will be more popular than Foot US?

Thanks to answer me.

North America and Canada are the ones(only) to play Foot US.
It's will be better than all countries play with the same sport!
Rugby for everybody.
A nation like United States miss to Rugby because United States is the country the more important in the world.

Otherwise, do you know if Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Canada, Africa, Russia...play Rugby, thanks.

well the usa is not big on rugyb because here we see it as foreign(with the exception of me of course)

americans do not care for foreign sports.. i.e. soccer

america does have a national rugby team "the eagles"

so does canada

in america rugby is growing at the high school level, but not at in the younger groups, which is bad, because we do not have the same pitch awareness as say a person in the UK, Europe, or the Southern Hemisphere

rugby is not very popular here, theres no demand for it, and its not followed, tests matches arent followed either.

rugby will probably never be more popular than foot us, because that games been around awhile, and rugby would take a while to gain in popularity

i really wish rugby was more popular here, we would probably be up there as one of the best, with all the talent we could draw from, and the wide selection of players to fill the team

If all players to Foot US played at rugby, USA will have the best team in the world!
Me i'm french and for me Foot US is not interesting!, Rugby is more spectacular(watch All blacks! and Super 14 and french championship :p i'm french).
In Foot US the game is all the time stopped!
Rugby is moving all the time!
The americans and Canada are the ones(only) to play Foot US whereas all countries plays rugby!
Go Rugby!

well if all our foot us players played rugby we'd probably suck, they dont have the pitch awareness to even think about contesting a top nation

Yesterdays Superbowl sucked, the worst since the 2000 one between the Ravens and Giants.

nfl is good- but i agree it lacks the cutting eadge of rugby and is a little stop and start

So what you're saying Ripper is that yesterday's game was crap, cause that's pretty much what I thought, even though it's the first time I sat through a NFL match, and all the trimmings, Stones were crap as well.

The only time I remember seeing the Dutch play rugby was when they met England in a qualifier for the 99 RWC. Rugby also seems to be growing in Russia and Georgia, we had qualifiers for RWC03 in Siberia in 2002. Don't know much if anything about rugby in Sweden and Germany, while the Canadians are one of the more established rugby nations, got to the quarter finals of the world cup in 91 so there's pedigree there, plus there's the Churchill Cup which has been going for the last few years and now Ireland and Scotland are sending their A teams as well.

Yes. Both the coaches were pussies, too scared to try anything apart from that one trick play Cowher pulled in the 2nd half (which went for a touchdown). Both QB's played like crap and with the exception of the Parker bust at the start of the 2nd half, both RB's were contained.

It was a shame as well because during the playoffs both the teams were dominating when on offence, willing to throw the ball deep and shredding defences with the running game. Easily the one worst of games I've seen (including regular season) preety much ever. The players were even too hit each other hard.

thats why college is better than nfl

an tarbh if you get a chance ever.. watch a college football game, there so much better the emotions are so much higher..

and of course watch my favorite school OHIO STATE!

Do not watch the Bucknuts. Watch USC or Southern Cal. Thats a team that always has NFL type talent, the Buckeyes have Ginn, but they do not utilize him properly.

ive played a season of club gridiron and its very very fun to play..not as exhilarating or draining to play..its very strategic too..ya can make all the big jock jokes but the work and methods of each play and what they do..and than trying to do it..its very very hard to execute it accurately,so big respect to those nfl players as all the chess like strategy is very mentally challenging and doing it physically can be harder...

rugby is just more accessible and id say more exciting to the eye..i dont like watching grid'iron well only cuts and shorts of it on sport centre coz quite frankly...its 3hours of stop..start..(its like rassie in those super granny m.i.l.f movies thats going around)

the thing that ticks me off is the drama and the egos..and the amount of money a punter gets to kick a dam ball..im sure theres a couple of bums in the ghettos who can kick the ball 100yards yet get nothing..its absurd..qbs should do that job..and also the health of there players...ya se them 400pound linesman and call them athletes?...they die in there mid 40s

i do agree that america would be a powerhouse in rugby....big investments here and there...commercialisation of it(which america are the best at)..bam..ya got ya self a top tier team

they have every resource to build a juggernaught international team except for the heart and passion to play rugby...and ignorance

Ive always watched American football but i gotta agree that its 10 minutes of play spread over 3 or 4 hours

ya college football is way more fun to watch. Way more trick plays, fumbles and just general mayhem than the structured, cautious approach favoured by many NFL teams.

NFL players have bad endurance and stamina, They cant run 100 yards at really good speed, They start to slow down like all, But its really noticeable, LIke that interception during the super bowl, HABANA would have ran that one straight in.

I'm a big NFL fan (never reallly bothered with college). But Rugby doesn't have much coverage in the US simply because you can't put advert breaks in it. And if it gets no coverage on TV it's unlikely to spread into the grassroots.

Well the major factor here is that Gridiron evolved from rugby over 100 years ago when rugby was basically still one big a slow moving booring scrum/maul... The yanks liked the idea of rugby, but wanted something less tied up (as the scrum was the predominant part of the game and tries were not worth points) so they developed their own game along similar lines. As a result it seems rugby was close to forgotton in favour of 'the American game', but it does seem to have a slowly growing awarness there now that it is professional and has also become much much more entertaining game to watch than it was 100 years ago (which is something that it in part owes to the pioneering done by rugby league in it's rule changes).
