2023-2024 transfers

Rumours firming up for Stooke to Bath, replacing FLW.
From the sounds of things, we tried to get him over the summer, but he had his RWC cover contract with Montpellier, so we kept FLW as our "RWC cover" until he arrives.

Of course it's possible it was the other way around, and we signed up FLW through November, and couldn't afford Stooke for the full year, so he part-extended at Montpellier, but that sounds less likely.

Only until the end of the season which is odd, thought they'd at least wrap him up for a 2 year deal. Bath just look to be missing some big units at lock and he could make all the difference.
Might be that JvG's got someone lined up. Might be that it's reliant on someone else leaving and freeing up some cap. Might be a "trial" for this set of coaches.
I would suspect the 2nd, our squad was pretty unbalanced, and JvG certainly seems to be looking to offload some backs, and bring in some tight 5s

Transfer fee and all...

Not a bad outcome for Edinburgh considering they have Boffelli, Darcy and Duhan covering the back three. Healy is now the starting 10 so less need for Kinghorn there. Think there are one or two youngsters who might get a chance or they could sign additional cover on a short term deal until the end of the season.

Hope Blair does well in France.

Toulouse have now got 4/10 of 1st choice fullbacks for Tier 1 nations (Ramos, Kinghorn, Mallia, Capuozzo). Surely they could use the funds to bolster other parts of their squad? They'll lose all but Mallia during the Six Nations.

What's gonna be his availability for Six Nations? Does Scotland allow French based players, or was Russell just an exception?

Seems like a strange move for me. I wouldn't have him first choice in any of his potential positions at Toulouse

Maybe he's removed himself from international contention for a pay boost, and has been signed to cover the international players rather than add to them?
Wouldn't be the first time a French side has sweetened the deal for them to be available all year round

But if you are Toulouse is it really worth paying a premium to have an international fullback for a couple extra weeks. Will it really make the difference between having a bye or not?

Then again la Rochelle signed nowell so who knows?

Joe Jones --> Scarlets

Disappointed to see him leave tbh, feel like he's been underutilised and whenever he's been given a run of games he's looked solid.
He's spoken about dreaming of playing for Wales, though, so makes sense to make the move now, especially is Scarlets are offering him more game time

Singleton to Toulon also done as medical joker. Could see this becoming Perm as well. Big money for a player fliting with England duty. Agreed big money and advantages of a top league with huge amounts of fans and full paved facilities. Can't blame them.

What a weird couple of years he's had - repeatedly called into the England squad but never used, club signed a rival player, mid-season, while he was injured who ended up replacing him as first choice and then he goes off on mid-season transfer himself the following season

Really weird to think that he went to a World Cup. His form just fell off a cliff afterwards.

should've stayed at Sarries

George North to Provence. Currently a Pro D2 side, albeit with promotion ambition, which says quite a lot.
