A Political Thread pt. 2

75%(ish) memebers of the UN manage to recognise the Palestinian state without any legal issues.
Isn't it a case of they can say what they like. Unless it's signed off by the UN and the bigger countries it's meaningless.

Croatia and Taiwan have had issues of being a recognised state in the past due to veto's etc.

Plus Hamas have got to agree Starmers terms as well and I'm not convinced it's in there interests.

This seems... like an all-round good thing...
By this government...
Surely there's a catch I'm missing?
The main issue is to get on our approved suppliers list you have to sign up to payment terms of up to 9 months after delivery. Obviously means some firms dont want to do business but those who need the business get desperate.

Recently, ive had a young person arrested for carrying 4 sharp sticks. This kid is Autistic, and foraged in a local wood, before being picked up at midnight by police, and attempted to be charged with an offencive weapon despite interacting with nobody.

While I was appropriate adulting, they attempted to convince him to admit to a lesser charge to go home, which he was eager to do, until I put a stop to it and waited for legal representation. All charges were dropped soon after...

Policing has become out of control IMO.

I do have a bit of sympathy with the police in this case, someone posted a picture of his tools (oo err) on a Reddit thread and it's pretty easy to mistake them for weapons (especially some jumpy curtain twitcher)

That said it seems a pretty heavy handed response, especially giving him a caution - surely could've just been a "Oh, they're tools? Ok, have a nice day"

I think like any job you get some good at it, some not so good.

In this case it's a tad out of order. I'm guessing they were thinking about bladed and pointed articles. You don't need and it shouldn't matter who was in the vicinity for this or possession of an offensive weapon.

Reasonable excuse would be asceratained on interview. However as the suspect needed you as an AA. Trying to get some one to cough a lesser charge is a dick move.

Why would there be question marks over it’s statehood?

I had a more legal response typed out but basically statehood is something that is really hard to define.

But really the only definition that matters is if other states recognize it and in the current geopolitical landscape I’d say 4 of 5 UNSC countries is enough.

Good that he's voicing his support for women and girls but where was he after Sarah Everard (amongst others) was raped and murdered by a white British man? And people talk about two tier Keir.

I mean it's gutter politics that Labour via Peter Kyle decided to join but Farage was a complete dick in his response by bringing asylum seeker hotels into a debate about the online safety act.

So apparently this was Starmer signed off, and is a tactic Labour will use now...

Its like theyre so excited with power, they can't handle it and want to give it up!

Not saying Labour are right but they're just joining others already in the gutter. When in opposition Labour were criticising the Tories spending cuts and Boris framed it as "Labour criticising our beloved NHS". Netanyahu also does it. A few weeks ago Starmer and Macron publicly pushed for aid to be ramped up in Gaza and Bibi framed it was "rewarding Jihadists". It's scummy af.

I wouldnt say Labour has joined, they have been involved in plenty, even doing it to themselves lol.

But if your going to wade into the swamp for a fight, dont hand your up and coming rival your own shotgun ffs.
