A Political Thread pt. 2

Text messages at the time of the Jan 6 riot. There is absolutely no doubt. We know Trump was attempting a coup, we know numerous people were contacting Trump and the chief of staff begging for action to stop it. That's one thing. Republicans are lying about this with the likes of Hannity and Carlson actively twisting every single aspect of it we know to be true and claiming it was all a lie or the left / Antifa.

This has got to stop. There is no defence and quite frankly there is no way to describe these people now other than soulless *****. They are actively supporting the narrative of a wannabe dictator and if anyone wants to see how democracies fall, looking at what the Republicans are doing now in preparation for the mid terms and next years election is exactly that. Anyone who wants to claim this is hyperbole? Please point to the last time this happened in a stable democracy that didn't then fall to dictatorial tendencies.

If Trump gets in again, he's not going out again.

Floodgates creaking heavily
Bound to happen today by-election tommorow which has rules on political reporting during the day so one more bust up just in time for that.
They've done suuuuuper well at stopping people from dying in Scotland tbf...
I'm not pro passport just it's such a light touch version of them its just not worth getting bent out of shape over. Especially as the other measures are important.

Of course he can. If the electorate have lapped it all up to this point and made excuse after excuse for him, I don't see why that would change. I know a Tory supporter who can still look at everything Johnson and the Tories have done and say in all earnest that they still think Labour are even more shambolic and untrustworthy. There is literally not limit of what Johnson will be allowed to do for huge swathes of the population.

Just like Trump, the people of this country can't say they weren't warned. They were told they were getting a lying clown who only cared for himself and would sell his own Granny to become PM and chose to ignore it, another "project fear". Perhaps maybe these warnings should be heeded a bit more? It seems no lessons have been learned though and the Tories will just replace the leader and suddenly everyone forgets it's the same party that caused this disaster, the same people, just a different figurehead.

It will be interesting to see how today’s By Election result will go in light of what’s happened (Patterson) Xmas parties and plan B . Still, even if Lib Dems win that cuts the Tory majority only by one. :(.
More impact its a stupidity safe Tory seat if they lose that they may feel its time to cut Johnson loose.

Hasn't it been Tory for about 200 years?
If they lose it, it'll be one hell of a message
Since 1835, in 1832 it was two seats and one was a Whig. They also spent 30 years unopposed. It also didn't exist between 1880 and 1983. But yeah if its taken hell even close would be turn up Paterson got 60% of the vote last two times out. This shouldn't be close.

So let's see:
- It didn't happen
- It happened but was all ok
- It happened, it wasn't ok but it was much less than said
- It happened as it was said but Bojo wasn't personally involved and someone has been sacked.
- It happened, Bojo was personally involved.

Next step? "Pizza and wine" code for a drug laden pissup where as a rule nobody is allowed to have any grip on reality any more?

79 seat majority still though. FPPT system still heavily favours the Tories.

If my borough fell to the Lib Dems in the General election then I really would be looking outside for a

Could the lib dems become the real challenge to the Tories as Labour don't seem to be making any ground?
Not really Lab now have a commanding lead in the polls. But some seats they are just never going to win but are prime candidates for the LDs taking because ****** off Tories prefer the LDs to Lab. Which is what happened here.

Hopefully will **** up the Lab idiots who say you must always go by previous election results as a method to tactocal.coting. Most pro activists know their constituencies very well so whilst Lab a very solid 10% of the vote clearly but they struggle to get larger than that.

We saw a similar thing in Wimbledon in the last election which is if wasn't for Lab campaigning.

Lab Lib coalition on the cards?

Libs will never make up enough ground on the other two to be proper contenders but if they get a few, labour get a few more, then they could realistically challenge - no one would be particularly enthused about it but literally anything is better than the current shower

The enemy of my enemy etc
