What a awful penalty taker Potgieter is. Missed 2 penalties that apparently should be easy to kick between the posts. Wasps have scored on 3 out of 3 penalties

Some news coming from London Welsh's group ...

Grenoble have been deducted four match points and fined €10,000 (euros) following a hearing by an independent Disciplinary Committee today (13 December 2012). The hearing was as the result of a misconduct complaint brought against the club by ERC.The misconduct complaint was that Grenoble selected Lotu Taukeiaho for the Amlin Challenge Cup Round 3, Pool 5 match against London Welsh on 7 December 2012 when Taukeiaho was not registered with ERC as a member of the club's tournament squad and was therefore an ineligible player.
The hearing was based on written submissions made by Grenoble, who pleaded guilty to the misconduct charge, and by ERC's Disciplinary Officer, Roger O'Connor.
After considering the submissions, the independent Disciplinary Committee, which was chaired by Roger Morris (Wales) with Rod McKenzie (Scotland) and Jeremy Summers (England), determined that the selection and subsequent participation of Taukeiaho in the match contravened the 2012/13 Amlin Challenge Cup Tournament Rules.
The Disciplinary Committee deducted four match points from Grenoble – ie. the points the club originally gained from the match - and fined the club €10,000 (euros).
London Welsh were awarded a 28-0 win and five match points, and the tournament's Pool 5 table will be amended to reflect the decision.
Both Grenoble and ERC have the right to appeal the decision.

So the Pool looks like this now:

Game on.

Wasps 17-7 Bayonne at HT.
Wasps have been very good. Particularly Vunipola, Sam Jones and Daly (who slotted a nice penalty from 55m). Can only be good with Lancaster watching on at Adams Park.

Not a bad introduction to a rugby filled weekend and Wasps fully deserve their lead but one wonders what would be the score had Bayonne's fly half been able to take the simple points on offer, the ref had not given a knock on leading to 3 points for Wasps when O'Conner clearly used his feet, if the ref had given offside from a Joe Simpson box kick that led to the first Wasps penalty when ALL the Wasps backs were in front of the scrum never mind behind the scrum half!!

Think Wasps will cruise through this one.................

Elliot Daly has shown today why he should be in the England set up some time very soon. He's very 'Goode-esque'. He's also shown however he still has quite a way to go before he challenges for a starting spot...

Same goes for Wade.

Lets see how/if Wasps close this out.

....and the idiot Morris gave the MoM to Masi who's sole real contribution was to, as Morris said, score try to "win" the game.....................it did not and it is Man of the Match not a Man of a Moment in the Game!!!

It seems Bayonne have decided to turn Joe Rokocoko who was previously such an exciting dangerous agile flair player at his best into a bosh centre.

Today was the first try he has ever scored for Bayonne against a side from a professional league. All his previous tries had come against Italian league opposition. He is still 24 Top 14 matches without a try for Bayonne though.

London Welsh: 15. Tom Arscott, 14. Phil MacKenzie*, 13. James Lewis, 12. Seb Jewell, 11. Joe Ajuwa, 10. Alex Davies, 9. Nick Runciman, 1. Tom Bristow, 2. Dan George, 3. James Tideswell, 4. Adam Brown, 5. Matt Corker, 6. Lee Beach ©, 7. Michael Hills, 8. Alfie To'oala*.

Replacements: 16. Greg Bateman, 17. Billy Moss, 18. Arthur Joly, 19. Jonathan Mills, 20. Mike Denbee, 21. Matthew Keyte, 22. Simon Whatling, 23. Nick Scott.

I notice Joe Ajuwa has already been loaned out to London Scottish for a period this season, and hasn't been playing too much in the London Welsh Premiership team despite being one of their top try scorers last season.

Is he turning out to be one of those players who are good at Championship or Prinicipality Premiership level but don't quite make the step up?

Pretty much but he's had his opportunities limited. I was taken a little back at the start of the season when he wasn't given a go.

Thought there were better players out there than Masi. Daly, Vunipola or Haskell was on my list for MoM

Vunipola was sin binned for repeat dangerous tackles. Haskell gave away about 9 points worth of penalties. Daly would have been a good call, but that Masi try was important to be fair.

A video of Dwayne Haare's solid hits against Wasps. Quite impressive to knock somebody who is 20 stone like Vunipola and running at full momentum backwards.

Italian record in the Amlin Challenge Cup this season.

Played 16 Lost 16. (Played 24 Lost 24 if you count their performances in all of Europe).

Rovigo have lost to the Spanish side in by default Bizkaia Gernika home and away now. Whilst the strongest Italian side in the tournament and their champions Calvisano lost to the Romanian representative in the tournament.

The ERC need to get a move on and add a Georgian, Portuguese and Russian side in place of the Italian league sides.

Also the Italian clubs attendances in this tournament were 800 for Calvisano this round, and 600 for Rovigo, last week Mogliano got just 885 against the Dragons. So with pathetic results, and even more pathetic interest for the Amlin Cup Italians, they need to be given the boot.

If a Romanian side, and Spanish side can have teams. Then surely Georgia, a nation who has won 4 of the last 5 ENC tournaments, would be equally if not more deserving. If the Spanish mid table side can beat Rovigo twice, then the Georgian champions Armia should be able to as well.

The Italian Amlin sides need to be got rid, and Zebre relegated to the Amlin in my opinion.
