England vs Barbarians - 25/10/20

Not the crew I would've expected

Gone home to see the kids, rather than night on the tiles?

Edit:

Daily Mail saying the Fijians and Kerrod didn't go - think that's 6, so chuck in 4 more who fancied an early night and that's the 10 who don't have single digit IQ sorted.

De Glanville's international career over before it begins? Lying then getting caught on CCTV isn't a good look

Exactly ... when I first posted that I was gutted for Robshaw, I couldn't imagine him being one of the miscreants. How wrong I was.

What a bunch of donuts!

I read elsewhere that Will Boyde and a couple of the other Cardiff Blues players have had call-ups to the Barbarians squad so might still go ahead.

Something.... Something about Saracens surprised as rules also apply to them. :p

In all seriousness that's completely stupid by a number of people who definitely should know better.

Aye, it makes sense - the Pro14 clubs will have their teams sorted for their round this weekend, so will know who they can spare from their extended squads

Gonna be a bloody mess of a game, with lads going straight into the captains run, barely knowing each others names

Game's off,

Apparently the Barbarians managed to scrape together 23 players but they RFU wouldn't sign off on the side cause of the Rona and not wanting to risk the England squad getting it (guessing not enough time for a proper round of testing before the game or something?)

That sucks i like a good baabaas game. Still saves me buying a sky sports day pass for 1 game.

Was never going to be a classic anyway.

Apparently there was a breach on the 20th as well which means that the bubble was completely compromised

Have a mini 7s tournament with the EPS players,

Already got the pitch and the cameras set up - 36 players in camp atm, 4 teams of 7 with a handful of rolling subs. Done.

This is a shambles and I don't like the implications. The Barbarians are a standout concept for me in a time of increasing "professionalism". For "professionalism" read "joyless commercialisation of what was the greatest social sport on the planet". The Ba Bas are already financially barely viable from my understanding. Which is a crying shame given they must be one of the greatest brands in Rugby. This might kill it. I'm not convinced that wouldn't suit some people.

Yes there's a degree of idiocy involved but I could live without the histrionics to be fair. Andy Powell drove a golf cart up the M4 at 4am to buy some fags and he's a legitimate legend (it's right up there with the greatest story ever told). Before we get the "yeah but no risk to anyone else...." he was driving ****** up on a motorway in a golf cart.

The risk of Covid 19 to young fit people is very low. Not zero but playing rugby isn't zero risk either. Bubbling must be pretty boring to be fair. These are young people.

Stupidity does not equal malicious intent in my book. Robshaw may have tarnished a great legacy as a good guy over this and that's a real shame. But it's not like they went on the lash to a strip club or went dwarf throwing is it?

I feel bad for Ferg if he wasn't one of the bandits... But I would be absolutely amazed if he wasn't one of the bandits.
There's a video doing the rounds that confirms your suspicions

Yeah, nah.
Drunk driving of any description is an absolute c*nt of a move even if it is hashtagLASHBANTER

The risk to them might be very low but what about the coaches, the people they meet and that those people meet, etc, etc?

I'm no fan of histrionics either but you must see how your point is flawed.

A few new videos making it look like they definitely were out on a **** up on at least one of the nights rather than a dinner.

No. If we begin to think in that way we're looking at infinite lockdown and zero contact with anyone over a certain age. The old and infirm can be killed by many infections. No one locked down the world due to the fact you could kill your gran by giving her flu.

I'm going to duck out at this point as I realise the point is irreconcilable. My view is that asking the young to sacrifice now is no more moral that asking the old to avoid contact with the young. Yes people will die, but they do all the time anyway. The cost of trying to control nature in my view is greater than the cost of accepting that life is harsh. Always has been, always will be.
