Ireland RWC 11 Thread

Looks like O'Brien is out for England, and probably the opening WC match against the US. Knee injury in Training.

Thank **** we have Leamy and Ryan to cover 6.

Sort of lost track of whether you're taking the **** here or not!

I'm not sure myself :) Sometimes I chuckle and the humour of it all, but then I realise we really do have Ryan and Leamy to cover and I get a little upset.

Either way, its good therapy. By the time the WC comes around i'll be bile and bitterness free.

Well you'll be happy to know that Buckley was almost yellowcarded playing at loosehead in the first half - Was replaced by a 21 yr old at halftime, but switched to Tighthead - he was then so bad at tighthead he was replaced at about 43mins by Vadim Cobilas (who until a few months ago was an semi-pro player in Moldova and Russia)
Woohooo......

(Imiolek and Cobilas combined managed to get a scrum penalty try though, so that's not too shabby )

Don't know why you laughing Olyy because after World Cup he 100% Sale Sharks problem :p
What has he a 3 year deal ???

Fingers crossed his deal doesn't mention playing and we can put him to use doing heavy lifting in the shop stock room or something

Wallace out for the world cup.

Thank **** we have Leamy and Ryan to cover the back row. As Illustrated in their dominant performance today they are a class above and beyond the average international backrow. The manner in which they dominated Englands second choice backrow was a sight to behold. We probably would have won if it wasnt for the dissapointing performance from the few remaining Leinster players in the pack. The sooner they get injured the better if you ask me.

Bad news about Wallace. Jennings will get called up. Hopefully Kidney rates him higher as a 7 than O'Brien.

O'brien should start ahead of ferris. Darcy should be dropped with bowe in 12 and McFadden 14. What I think the team should be:
1. Healy
2. Flannery
3. Ross4. Doc
5. Poc
6. Sob
7. Jennings
8. Heaslip
9. Redden
10. Sexton
11. Trimble
12. Bowe
13. Bod
14. McFadden
15. Kearney

16. Best
17. Court
18. Cullen
19. Ferris
20. Murray/boss
21. Rog
22. Murphy

We were awful today because once again we had no creativity in the backs and they were more physical, which is understandable as they were still hurting from the grand slam and our players would be apprehensive about injury after last week. The backs should start working on their own without gaffney, he's to old to coach international standard rugby.I'm very nervous about the world cup, it hit me for the first time today we could have a repeat of 07.

If they let the nay-sayers win, and fill their mind with negativity, they'll crash out against Italy and god knows who else.

This was the former world champions they played. England will downplay the performance to belittle Ireland as their standard par for the course, but they will be tough to break down. They conceded 0 tries against a team that put 3 tries on them in the last encounter (excuses will be made by England here - "it was a tragic England performance in the 6N..." etc.). This is a much improved England team.

Ireland aren't that bad.. they need to get their heads together.
It's not like we played Italy and Russia in warm-up games. We played Scotland (underrated), France, and England.

These performances in the warm ups have been depressing. You have to wonder where Ireland are going to pull a performance out of.
Wallace is a big loss and I really feel for the guy. I'd nearly prefer Kidney to persevere with Jennings at 7, alongside SOB and Heaslip.

I'm not sure a backrow of Ferris, SOB and Heaslip would work all that well, but I'd be interested in seeing it tried out some point during the USA match. Really hope Heaslip and O'Brien will be alright. We're in deep trouble otherwise.
Based on these performances, the Aussies will be laughing and the Italians fancying their chances of making a quarter final.

Lads seen David Wallace today and well to say the man is distraught is a total understatement.
Sad news and well can 100% say it seems that we have seen Wally wear the 7 shirt of Ireland for the last time. He is waiting to see the results and well if it 9 months that he'd be out for he might not come back so here is hoping everything goes well.

Horrible news, looked in some pain as he whent down, horrible to see.

me no like tuallagi now. Also out of curiosity how is he allowed to be in the England world cup squad and his brother is in the Samoan world cup squad?

Because he has been in the country so long and came up through English rugby system.
And I don't think we can blame him for Wallace's injury - it just seems like the leg got stuck and buckled. Nothing else really can explain it.

No, let's blame him. He has a name for being a bit of a thug - he must be English! kidding - low blow.
But maybe that's what's getting under his skin - being forced to play for England in the world cup - a country with a traditional superiority-complex of their master (of white) race. It's kind of a contradiction in terms that he'd be playing for England but that's their double standards for u.

Well this is about Ireland and well my upset is simply this:

On Tuilagi - He made his choice to play for England and is entitled to that so fair play to him and best of luck. But can't blame him for the Wallace injury as it was just a freak accident.

I'm just bit upset for Wally because for a guy who has always wore his heart on his sleeve and delivered for Ireland alot more times than not this is an extremely sad way topossibly make your last appearance in green.

On Irish team - It hurts us because at 6 we will have Ferris who isn't as good after the layoff and well extremely high risk in terms of his knee can go at any time. At 7 is O'Brien who is ok at 7 but this guy does all his damage effectively and is a nightmare to play against when he is at 6 and 8 but he's not a 7. And well at 8 is a Heaslip who is badly off form and well we need that form to return.

As for back-up we have:
Leamy - Who is doing ok and had a good warm-up but is only backrow in same as 3 starters but not really what will save us.
Jennings - A specialist 7 but doesn't deliver in green and well not at same level in my opinion
Ryan - Not up to top class backrow and well is what his ***le is a player to cover.

I'd prefer, at this stage, a backrow of:
6. SOB
7. Jennings
8. Heaslip
The backrow is a real worry. Wallace has been one of Ireland's most consistent forwards for years and is a monumental loss. Heaslip has looked quite poor in these games, Jennings was disappointing in his appearance, while Leamy has looked ok. SOB has been the best Irish player and is undroppable and to switch him to 7, where he is least effective is madness. I don't think that a backrow of Ferris, SOB and Heaslip would work, while Jennings would add some balance.

Has anyone here actually played flanker? they only difference between 6 and 7 is 7 has to cover a bit more ground on a defensive scrum, and to hit the 10, O'Brien will do fine at 7 and so would Ferris,
