Rugby 2012 Team Ratings?

I agree with the fifa stars idea, don't know if anyone has said it but why not have a separate overall rating for forwards and backs. Just like fifa has ratings for defense, midfield and attack.

Australia's better than South Africa, although they are very close. Firstly, we beat them in the Tri Nations, and in the first half of the match at Bloemfontein australia dominated south africa. Although Australia are inconsistent and can't perform well in the second half, South Africa caught up with penalty goals and not so much try scoring (or at least they scored less tries)

This made no sense after your "Australia is inconsistent" statement.

My point, HB should take IRB rankings into account.

Just use the IRB rankings for the team ratings.

Is that Chile? WTF?

I would judge the ratings on what the irb ratings are for each team, and the results from the most current tournaments.

Agreed, the most current IRB Ratings would be great. In Rugby 08 a player can choose a team and all matches played with that team are recorded when saved. The rating does not increase but the teams gelling (can't think of the word used) does increase or decrease accordingly. Selecting better players or combinations should also improve the rating!

Cohesiveness?

You've got a very ugly looking rep there

New Zealand are by far the best team for now, but once Peter De Villiers opens his eyes and realize the potential we have, we would beat them by far..
With the right selection, there is no team that can beat the Springboks.
2012 is still a far way to go..

Ya. everyone has to begin at some point hey!!
I'm as passionate about rugby as any one in here, maybe more.. My rep might not show that now, but I would like to think as it as just a matter of time, especially as I joined, uhm, about 20Minutes ago

Agreed but more than selections need to to change starting with the coach!

Welcome to the forum, I can already tell you're gonna be a big hit around here

Where are Scotland, Canada and the United States on your list? They can beat the bottom four teams here

It could be kool if teams actually had individual stats/ratings not just an overall number that doesn't really mean much.
eg. Defense
Attack
Stamina
Flair
Scrummaging
Line-outs
Aggression
Consistency

(or something like that)

Team Ratings should change depending on which players are selected in the 22 man squad... An all black team without Carter, McCaw and Weepu would have to lower than a full strength Springbok side, and Vice Versa.

A Springbok team without Carter, McCaw and Weepu would be weaker than an All Blacks side?
