Should there be a World Club Final

Well the main issue here is the schedule. Maybe easier if it's a Cider League team which wins the H-cup.

Premiership winner, H-Cup winner, Top 14 winner and Super 14 winner into a 4 team play-off.

Well these days it usually is, so it won't be a problem. :P

Or...

A Magners Winner, H-Cup Winner, Top 14 and Super 14 winner into a 4 team playoff.

But seriously, a 4 team structure would have to be from the 4 biggest leagues. That would certainly give extra reason for people to take the magners seriously! In a realistic world, a game between the winner of the S14 and the H cup would be epic and I would pay international prices to see it.

Sounds like a really good idea and i like the idea of having it being a best of 3 series, one in the NH one in the SH and one in a neutral area[/b]

What's neutral between the Northern and Southern hemispheres? The Moon?

Ecuador?
Somewhere directly on the equator, basically

I'd think that you'd still need a home n away basis

Bulls mightn't do too well in London or Leicester. But I dont think any team stands a chance in Loftus Versfeld.

So far the whoule comp is still only a dream though isnt it??

(How does the rugby league world club system work?)

The winners of the NRL play against the winners of the super league in England at <strike>a neutral venue</strike> Elland Road every year.

A neutral venue would be either the Americas, UAE or Asia.

If it takes more than 1 week its never going to happen; allready packed as it is.

Most likely time would be in the month after S14 and HCup ends.
But that interferes with the Currie cup so, not going to happen. Unless an ANZAC team wins then by all means.

Warm-up matches might work. I remember Saracens coming down to play the Stormers a year or two back pre-season. Nothing to it but it was still a fun exercise. I would call Newlands a neutral venue as well.

I think Quito's altidude is a bit high even for the Highveld teams. How about Kenya? Or PNG? At least they play rugby there...

Enough horseplay. We all know it wouldn't be held where there is no space to accommodate a massive crowd and thus worthwhile revenue as well as interested spectators who would buy those tickets. Wembley probably.

Like I said in the other thread, the Crusaders or Bulls would be the 6N winner more often than not, so they wouldn't find too much trouble beating the best Heinekin cup team which is half filled with SH expats.

Good thing Dale's here to settle that one. There we go, no need for the "final" any more, the Southern Hemisphere Big Family wins!

The Crusaders would lose to my pub team if they dropped as many passes as they did vs the Reds. And the last Heineken Cup final contained, out of 44 players, just 4 from Tri-Nations countries and 4 from other SH nations like Argentina. Hardly 'half-filled'.

And I know you're fishing, but the 6N winners = Ireland. Ireland played SA last year (who are better than the Bulls) and beat them. This year's 6N winners will most likely be France. France won and lost vs the All Blacks last year. And the All Blacks are lightyears ahead of the Crusaders.

So get out.

I mentioned that in another thread where he was fishing, but got no response...wonder why?

Funnily enough. I am pretty sure the Bulls would beat the Boks if they played, LOL. Crazy as that sounds I really believe the Springboks last year were a worse team than the Bulls for the Sharks frontrow coming in and Wynand Olivier going out. Stegman > Brussouw and Potgieter > Burger in the backrow as well. Better coaching, motivation, combinations etc.

A bit off topic but there it is.

The only recent games between S14 between European teams was last August when the Brumbies played 4 games against Top14 teams in pre-season.

The brumbies were without their internationals but so were the top 14 teams as international players were on mandatory breaks.

The top 14 teams were on pre-season having played no competitive game since May.

Guess what, the Brumbies lost 3 (including Bayonne and Bourgoin who are respectively 13th and 12th in the top 14) and won 1.

Incidentally;

Northampton, Leicester, Gloucester, London Irish, Wasps, Bath (if they're not too busy inhaling Columbian produce) and Saracens would **** on England
Munster, Leinster and (probably) Ulster would **** on Ireland
Ospreys and Cardiff would beat Wales comfortably
Toulouse, Biarritz, Clermont, USAP and Stade are more then capable of beating France

Saracens and Leicester did **** on South Africas fire. That be the South Africa who ****** all over Australia and beat the All Blacks. You know, the teams that SH rugby fans always mention whenever the Super 14 is mocked.

Up 'ere because of the style of play and amount of time the players can train together, clubs/regions are a LOT stronger then the national sides.

Sorry, but who gave you permission to address me personally?

The Crusaders would manshame any of the top teams in the NH and you know it. Countless amount of players who struggle to get spots on the bench for super rugby teams stroll into starting NH teams. Luke McLean and Craig Gower couldn't get contracts for a super rugby teams and they are starting for Italy for FFS..

I could create a huge list of nothing SH players who made the step down to NH rugby and became stand outs.

Remember, you're a Saffacens supporter.

Australians really shouldn't speak unless spoken to. Shame on you Ginger, you've set him off.
