Re the Dune Books....i rememeber getting to the end of Dune and thinking it was generic sci-fi, predicable in a lot of ways....and then i realised it was probably the source of what have become standdard sci-fi troups...so would have been truely revelutionsary when first released.....just sufferend from me reading/watching +40 years of newer sci fi before it
Yup - same goes for Clarke & Asimov... Tolkien & White for fantasy, Christie & Conan-Doyle for detectives...

A24 and Alex Garland are making a live action big budget film adaption of video game Elden Ring which has me intrigued given A24 and Alex Garland aren't in the habit of making crap and people hold the video game Elden Ring in high regard (I'm yet to play it)

If it's true to source the film will feature a lot of running away from bosses, and coming back when your hard enough.

I sshed someone once and got Karened for being aggresive afterwards.

The film was okay sadly its the same film as the last one just repackaged rather than having something new to say or do.
I preferred it to the first one. I liked the nostalgia elements of it.

Shame the cinema was noisy for your viewing

Just two people who were talking so loud during some dialogue parts I couldn't hear it (my wife says she didnt hear them talking so must of been a proximity thing). I was excessive and vicious when I ssshed them apparently....

Its 4/5 times older people though...

Anyway Anne Hathaways best movie out currently is Mother Mary (which a whole 6 people went to see when I did). So I support Prada 2 if she gets to make films like that.

I've a soft spot for the prequels, they're not as good as the original trilogy but they're still good Sci-Fi films

Sequels...first one is ok, 2nd one is bad and the third one I watched when it came out and immediately filed it alongside the final season of game of thrones where it's so bad I never want to see it again and its almost ruined all the good that came before it by association

Return of the Jedi this is a good entertaining commentary track where they talk about the movie and how it was the 'grey sheep' of Star Wars before much worse movies came later

"Rich, Mike, and Jay sit down to watch Return of the Jedi! Yay! This is the last film (Chronologically) that takes place before Star Wars: The Force Awakens. So much to discuss! This commentary is intended to be watched with the blu-ray version of the film. Start the commentary the second the SW logo appears on the screen prior to the title crawl."

The correct way to watch Star Wars is to watch the ones you enjoy. Don't **** on people for liking other stuff. The prequels to people younger millennials hold a dear place in their hearts even if Episode III is the only interesting stuff after the first quarter.

Personal opinion is Rogue One is overpraised but it lead to Andor so can't complain too much.

Disney did a solid job with the first two mainline movies (the reaction to Last Jedi is why Legacy sequels end up like Force Awakens a rehash of old ideas)

The Mandalorian and Grogu I won't watch at the cinema the TV series bored me both times I attempted season 1.

Starfighter coming out in 2027 sounds more promising. Disney say it's a stand alone movie with all new characters set years after Episode 9.

Absolutely this.
For myself, that's the original trilogy (with RotJ having a special place in my heart, for being my first experience of the cinema - or at least, the first I remember).
I'm very much OT > R1 > PT >>>>>>>>>>> ST I think I've watched VII twice, VIII once, and never watched IX - and quite honestly, that's more than enough for me.

TBH, I've watched the OT and PT enough times by now that I can't see myself actively choosing to watch them again.
If/when Ali does, I'd probably half-watch the OT whilst doing other stuff on the tablet. PT... probably depends on the weather, and how into my current book I am, but there's a good chance I'd leave her to it.

As for how anyone else should watch it - none of my business. We all take pleasure from different things - and that's a GOOD thing.

It’s my birthday next week and my son said it would be great if we went bowling then watch Grogu. Whose birthday is it again? It’s like Homer getting Marge a bowling ball with “Homer” written on it.

You know what im sick of you complaining you have to go do fun activities with your son, bowling and a movie oh whoa is you...

You know what i got for my last birthday? A MFing makeover, head shine, beard platts, nice buff and polish of the nails, and dont forget the blush and rouge to and i qoute 'make me look less like a zombie'.

Have some girls, then come back at me and complain, i dont even know what thread this is, i just saw your comment and got proper blue haired over weight 20 year old college student triggered hahaha

I’ve got a daughter as well. I know all too well about painted nails and her doing my hair.

I would respectfully like to retrsct my previous statement... clearly you know the pain!

Funny story, today at junior girls football, i was sat on my picnic blanket getting bitten by the baby, and then jumped on by the older after coming off to sub... so i was accosted by 2 crying girls! Got into trouble shouting at my missus 'why cant one of you people living in my house have a willy'
