A Political Thread pt. 2

Ladies and gentlemen, behold the staggering incompetence that we apparently call a government. But not to worry, Labour would somehow **** up even more than the Tories have. Exactly how has never really been explained but you can be sure they would!

Interesting video about TFL's situation. No surprise, Johnson sticks the boot in and blames Khan when statistically it has fared far better under Khan than under Johnson. Then again expecting Johnson to outright lie both about his and his opponents performances is par for the course now. The man is a ******* failing cretin.

Oh look. More unlawful acts from the government.

Honestly there really should be more consequences when they are found to have broken the law. It's not like getting policy wrong, this is breaking the law.

Got a question, which kind of goes here.

So the new armoured vehicles for the army are a mess. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-57348573

Now other government projects suffer similar issues and either run late or go over budget all of which seems to just cost the tax payer more. Can anyone explain why the contracts with the companies involved do not allow the government/MOD to either just cancel the project and get the money back as what was asked for hasn't been delivered or the companies involved have to bear the extra cost, especially once it goes way over budget?

"The report also notes the "vehicle cannot reverse over an obstacle more than 20cm high"."

Jesus Christ how can that be true? A car can do that. It's basically saying your average kerb is an impassable object to this in reverse.

It all comes to requirements capture and the contract basically its a question of who ****** up and usually its fine lads at Abbey Wood who are at fault. Sadly its a bit of a jobs for the boys place and whilst ex-miltary are usally pretty smart they tend to know very little about writing proper constraints on a project. I've also witnessed them essetially allow companies to write their own requirements. On the contract if it meets the requirements at the given milestones it doesn't matter if its actually not going to work in reality. Once its realised these requirements are rubbish they have to add on 'features' which obviously increases costs as it wasn't part of the original scope of the project.

Our entire procurement process is a shitshow and leaves soldiers with poor equipment and engineers producing bad products because its all based on the guys writing the contracts and running the projects who have no concept of reality.

Second part of the sentence reveals why

"Defence experts say many of the problems stem from additional armour protection being put on the original hull, which has seen an increase in weight from 19 to more than 40 tonnes."

Add 21 tonnes to your car and see how well it does, so yup requirements creep, they decided it needed extra armour, which probably exceeded the original weight requirements which means the guys designing the suspensions (and other bits) got shafted whilst probably telling people it was impossible within the original deadlines. Cost goes to MoD for changing the requirements.

Yay another trade deal that is worse than what we had being in the E.U.

Have we actually had a single trade deal that is an improvement over what we had before?

No Way Smh GIF by Amazon Prime Video

Even the Norwegian's said that the deal we now have isn't as good as what we had when in the EU.

It's all about buying power, but the way the media roll out the trade deal headlines and Brexiters celebrate is maddening.

Funnily enough I recently my first package from GB last week which had the customs declaration sticker on it. On checking it, it was misclassified and duty should have been paid on it

Not happy this morning - the G7 have seemingly forgotten they are not the only 7 countries in the world.

The sentiment is somewhat understandable but this is going to end badly
