if correct then I have no sympathy for her. SKS Totally right to sack her.
The Huffington Post article goes into much more detail (and a good read). Sounds like she was absolutely given the chance to save her skin. Also not a Starmer conspiracy to get rid of her sounds like he quite liked the work she was doing.

Maxine Peake has distance herself from her own comments and RLB still hasn't deleted the tweet.

This is the kind of poor judgement that plagued Corbyn's time as leader.

New Labour policy should be not to post anything which could be even tentatively linked to Israel, unless it's a clear praising of the country. This type of news takes away from failure of the current government.

Again the issue here isn't the actual criticism of Israel the issue is tentatively linking it to the death of George Flloyd. Even if Chauvin was trained in the technique by Israeli's (no proof, just some level of conjecture) the hold wasn't the issue it was holding him in it for 8 mins 46 seconds for no damn good reason even as Flloyd protested and begged for his life.

Its fine to criticise Israel but make damn sure the facts add up and don't link it to tenuously to other events. Labour need to doubly be resolute because they do have an issue in thier rank and file that they asolutely failed to address.

Here's more unpicking on why this was a bad move

More importantly it doesn't take much common sense to run anything that mentions Israel past to communications office before endorsing it.

BLM/politics:

The original George Floyd protests had my sympathy and support. Residents of the city were rightly voicing their grievances about what happened in their city.

...And then it grew legs fuelled by bad actors namely BLM and Antifa. It was first about police brutality, then it became about the "epidemic" of unarmed blacks being killed, and then riots stared and now eventually 'defund the police'. George's own family condemned the violence and destruction but the "cause" had already been hijacked so they their requests were ignored.

I highly doubt what BLM are doing is social justice driven and I think it is instead politically driven exactly because of what you just mentioned: It's an election year and they want Trump out. This is the "bigger picture".

The inconvienent truth is the data doesn't back up their claims and there is a large portion of Black people do not agree with their oppression narrative. Surely that would make most reasonable people stop and think what's going on. They don't have full support of the people they've elected themselves to represent AND the data doesn't match?

Imagine my surprise that two of the three founders of BLM admitted that to being trained Marxists.

And one of their goals is to stop Trump getting re-elected despite record low Black unemployment rates before COVID and despite a sharp decrease in the killing of unarmed Black people by police during his presidency:

But they had nothing to say about Chicago's deadliest weekend of 2020 over the weekend, where a 13 year old girl and a 3 year old boy were murdered. Black on black crime so nobody cares:

They are a political movement, not a social justice movement.

You've been duped @The Alpha Bro

WTF is going on? Following the Reading attack, 3 dead in stabbings in Glasgow. There were also 3 stabbings in Bournemouth yesterday although no fatalities.

No idea what's behind the Glasgow attack but the authorities need to get a grip on knife crime. Availability and sanction both need tightening.

I suspect another terrorist incident, but let's wait and see what is confirmed.

if the same as previous ones - Reading, London then can much be done against lone wolf style attacks? The Reading suspect was on MI6's radar and still they did not stop him.

The issue is burden of proof required for intent to commit a crime, how do you work out the difference to angry man on internet with actual intent. Honestly this is where we need a better funded police (not defunded thats an American problem to deal with different issues) so they can have better community support within the target areas as well information gathering.

Serious question, how? You can't ban carrying knives anymore than already
legislation and the sanctions are already have a 4 year maximum sentence.

https://www.gov.uk/buying-carrying-knives#:~:text=The maximum penalty for an,a knife more than once.

Sanction wise, sentence harder, increase the maximum (I doubt many get that and 4 years for carrying a lethal weapon with no good reason is pretty light), one strike and you're out etc.

Availability is much more vexed given kitchen knives and so on. Target areas where it's rife, increase stop and search (that'll go down well.....). Licence certain types of blade.

There is no reason to carry a knife, but it's now widespread and part of the culture in some areas. Education is the long term answer but in the here and now the authorities can't be passive or the problem will just get worse.

Glasgow not being treated as terrorism.

Harder sentences but we have an overcrowded prison system as it is and stop and search is pretty much proven to be completely dispprotionate between ethnic group and actual offenders.

None of this is easially solved.

This is pretty disgusting. Two PCs taking selfies with 2 murder victims and then sharing it with a few others. Both have been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office.
Gallows humour. Don't expect people who have to deal with dead bodies, prostitution, drug addiction and being generally vilified by much of the population to have a normal outlook on life

you're saying this incident is pretty common amongst murder squad officers? They take a pic of the victims and then do selfies with them to share around with colleagues?

Get some PTSD training or move to another job within the police. This isn't about not having a normal outlook on life as a result of dealing with horrific parts of their job. These officers had no respect whatsoever for the victims and their families.
