I think you've already been corrected, but it's a germanic language........think Beowulf.

Anyway, I like Flower of Scotland. It's nice, it obviously stirs up the crowd, which is what an anthem is intended to do.
It's hard to defend Ireland's call on merrit when compared to the other home nations. However, credit to the IRFU for taking the initiative to unite Irishmen instead of divide them, even if it is with a cheesy song. I don't think Scotland have the problem that the IRFU faced when implementing a nuetral anthem.
