14) Shane Morahan (Gloucester)
13) Danny Barnes (Newcastle)
12) Ian Whitten (Exeter)
11) Eamonn Sheridan (London Irish)
10) Jonathan Sexton (Racing)
9) Tomás O'Leary (London Irish)
8) Michael Noone (Leicester)

6) Robin Copeland (Cardiff)
5) Ryan Caldwell (Bath)
4) Tommy Hayes (Exeter)
3) Jamie Hagan (London Irish)
2) Tom Sexton (Melbourne Rebels)
1) Tony Buckley (Sale) - Can't be any more useless

Aside from half back and it's certainly a weaker team than a few years back. I suppose this is to be expected with Connacht getting a lot of Heineken Cup rugby recently. Less incentive to leave the country. That back row is utterly useless, but aside from that it's a mid-lower table premiership team.

I've got time to waste. Let's do this.

1. Paul James (Bath)
2. Marc Jones (Sale)
3. Craig Mitchell (Exeter)
4. Luke Charteris (Perpignan)
5. Dom Day (Bath)
6. Dan Lydiate (Racing Metro)
7. ?
8. Gareth Delve (Japan)/Kieran Murphy (Brive)

9. Mike Phillips (Bayonne)
10. James Hook (Perpignan)
11. Shane Williams (Japan)
12. Jamie Roberts (Racing Metro)
13. Gavin Henson?
14. Aled Brew (Biarritz)
15. Lee Byrne (Clermont)
Updated somewhat

Started doing an England one then found it quite difficult. The outward flow has been greatly reversed this season. Doesn't help that if an English player goes to the Celtic League, they'll end up declared for whoever before you can say "Poach".

Think you'd probably swap Whitten and Sheridan in that Ireland one.

12 Wynand Olivier
13 Jaque Fourie
14 JP Pietersen
15 Louis Ludik

16 Heinke van der Merwe

19 Gerhard Vosloo maybe or I liked CJ Stander?
20 Rory Kockott / Jano Vermaak -can't decide
21 Ruan Pienaar

Was very tempted to include Richardt Strauss, Bernard le Roux, Antonie Claassen and the like but I suppose I should stop thinking of them as South African.

I'd like to see an updated NZ one; could have a very scary backline!

Added a few guys here and there...

I liked Ernst Joubert as a possible 8 as well. Not too flash but a better option IMO than the Ashley Johnsons, Josh Strausses and the like.

I forgot about Rob Ebersohn. Sias is an option on the bench as well to cover 10/15. Sam Gerber and Gavin Hume are option midfield as well. Paul Bosch and Corne Uys on the fringes. Danie Poolman a promising youngster as well.

Thanks. TBH I shouldn't even have tried; I almost included Fotoali'i and Taumololo before I caught myself- tend to see everyone playing for NZ teams in SR as NZ players.

Can't agree with that. That side would not be good enough to stay in the Premiership let alone near mid table, even with Sexton there. How many of those players are first choice starters for their clubs? I guess it shows how good Ireland are keeping their players, not just the internationals, but the essential provincial players who are required to keep the standard decent when the elite players are so often away.

At 15 you could play Bruce Reihanna or Scott Hamilton. Other NZ players in France: Daniel Kirkpatrick, Stephen Brett, Joe Rokocoko, Kevin Senio, Luke McAlister, David Smith, Rudi Wulf, Benson Stanley, Regan King, Saimone Taumopeau (there you have a LH prop, and a good one). If I was to make a side, I'd take yours, add Taumoepeau at 1, McAlister at 12 (SBW plays another sport, I don't think he counts), Rokocoko instead of Gear and Scott Hamilton at 15.

The sad thing is with the PI nations their 'exiles' team is their standing test team with the exception of a few quality Fijians who forgo playing for their country over their club. Sad. Anther sad thing is that I think the SA 'exiles' side is stronger than our current test team if we were to not allow them to play;

Steenkamp > Mtawarira
Brits < Du PLessis/Strauss
Mujati > Du Plessis
Botha = Etzebeth
Louw = Brussow
=
= unless Spies then >
FdP/Pienaar/Vermaak/Kockott > Hougie
Steyn > Lambie (I'm not counting Goosen as he hasn't played in an age)
Habana & Pietersen > Mvovo & Basson
Ebersohn =< JdV.. can't decide
Fourie > Englbrecht
Habana & Pietersen > Mvovo & Basson
Kirchner < Le Roux (not counting Taute ATM)

I'd rather have one of Tamati Ellison or Richard Kahui with McAlister on the bench if SBW is left out. Or both with Ranger on the wing if you don't like Hosea Gear.
