Leicester Tigers Thread

Dan Kelly is clearly not in the Tigers first choice 23. The only action he has seen recently has been in the Highcross John Lewis. Definitely time for a move for him if he has any international ambitions.

Tarek Haffer going to Tigers. Im surprised Saints dont want to keep him. He wont start at Tigers unless Nicky Smith is leaving.

TBF sounds like they did but Tigers offered him more money. He wouldn't be starting with Fischetti so prob down to better chance at back up and money.
I feel he fills in a gap at Tigers more than at Saints. We need ball carriers and can help with his scrums

Squad so far confirmed for next season
Senior Players:
1. Smith, Haffar, AVDF, Miell (Kingsley-Mellowes)
2. Blamire, Clare, FTT (Easterby-Grey)
3. Heyes, Hurd, Cole (Maka, Popple)
4. Martin, Wells, T.Manz (Thomas)
5. O.Chessum, Henderson, L.Chessum
6. Hanro, Carnduff, J.Manz (Loggenberg)
7. Reffell, Ilione (Williams)
8. Cracknell, Moro
9. JVP, Whiteley, Allen (Bemand)
10. Volavola, ***combe (Threlfall)
11. Radwan, (Kinder)
12. Woodward, Kata, McCarthy
13. Perese, Wand, (Myall)
14. OHC
15. Steward (Pearson)

Main concern is
Hooker depth
Starting Number 8
10 in general
Back 3 depth

Would also like to see another TH

BUT happy with the shape of the squad so far
Blamire and Haffar add so much more impact to our team, Montoya is a big loss but Blamire will be cheaper and his carrying is one thing that is significantly better. Haffar carrying off the bench will also be a big help as our bench front row has little impact

We should have some good cap space to play with for Parling though

I've just discovered that Geoff Parling is Head coach at Leicester Tigers next year. I looked up his coaching history and all he has done is coach the Australia forwards for the last 5 years! 😮I don't think you could get a worse cv

Idk his Cv is pretty impressive been coaching for nearly 8 years and been a wallabies assistant coach for 5 years. Eddie Jones removed him during his stint but Schmidt brought him back.

Head coach is the natural progression

So struggle to see how it's a bad CV?
Weasels, Rennie and Schmidt are excellent coaches to learn from

Factor in everyone who has played and coached him saying he was made to be a head coach

Steenson was saying a few weeks ago he was a massive part to Exeter's success

Because Australia are not known for having good forwards. Their forwards have been poor for the last 10 years especially the tight five.

Is that the coaches fault...or the fault of the clubs and Australian development processes not creating the players?

since 2023 they've had some real standouts come through: Faessler, Nick Frost, Jeremy Williams. I think GP will be a good fit although too early to say whether he can recreate a ***le-chasing team
