First game almost over with the west indies having the upper hand. Pakistan need 126 runs with 4 wickets in hand and 17 overs remaining. required run rate of 7.41 its going to be a tough ask from here.

They have just lost Ul Haq and Akmal in 2 balls and Yousif and ul-Haq only scoring 37 and 36 respectivly its going to be a tough ask.

earlier in the day Samuels smashed 63 with 5 fours and 3 sixes with Smith chipping in with 32 off 15. Anjum was pick of the bowlers with 3 for 44.

Smith also has 3 for 23 so far off 7 overs.

Well it's the obvious clash of the ***ans with Ireland taking on Zimbabwe at Sabina Park. Ireland have made 221-8 from their 50 overs with Aussie import Jeremy Bray batting all the way through for an unbeaten 114. Certainly in with a chance if we can bowl like we did in the warm up games.

It's getting away from us now, we need a couple of quick wickets or else it should be plain sailing for Zimbabwe here.

Match tied but what a chance to win it, should really have taken the catch. Gutted now.

yeah bugger, but a tie!!! against a "test" playing nation as well.

go the irish :)

Kudos to both teams for serving up a true classic. Fantastic match.

Put me in mind of my fave poem :

Sir Henry Newbolt - Vitaї Lampada:-

There's a breathless hush on The Close to-night
Ten to make and the match to win
A bumping pitch and a blinding light,
An hour to play, and the last man in.
And it's not for the sake of a ribboned coat.
Or the selfish hope of a season's fame,
But his captain's hand on his shoulder smote
"Play up! Play up! And play the game!"

The sand of the desert is sodden red-
Red with the wreck of the square that broke
The gatling's jammed and the colonel dead,
And the regiment blind with dust and smoke.
The river of death has brimmed its banks,
And England's far, and Honour a name,
But the voice of a schoolboy rallies the ranks-
"Play up! Play up! And play the game!"

This is the word that year by year,
While in her place the school is set,
Every one of her sons must hear,
And none that hears it dare forget.
This they all with a joyful mind
Bear through life like a torch in flame,
And falling fling to the host behind -
"Play up! Play up! And play the game!"

top stuff by the irsh even if it was against zimbabwe which don't exactly have the greatest of teams these days.

Well Ireland have made a great start in Jamaica, Pakistan are 66-5 after 18 overs.

105-8 now, if we don't get a partnership like we saw in the SA game this one could be ours for the taking.

All out for 132 for Pakistan, granted batting isn't our strong point but 133 is surely chaseable. if that even is a word

well its raining, if they dont come back then its a win for ireland and possibly an early trip home for pakistan

Pakistan 132 (45.4 ov)
Ireland 115/7 (36/47 ov)
Ireland require another 13 runs with 3 wickets and 11.0 overs remaining

Come on Ireland...only need approx 1.2 runs/over!, and with 3 wickets in hand should be able to do this....cooommmeee oonnnn!

what is happening in this world cip ;0. first bangladesh getting up over india and now it seems ireland will beat pakistan. there could be a few unexpected exits from the world cup.

It would certainly bring more attention toward the World Cup, and make it more exciting.

These wins will provide invaluable experience to the teams, especially Ireland.

Bangladesh are funny aren't they? They can get flogged one game, then the next turn it all around and beat on of the best nations. Remember last year or the year before when they knocked of Australia?! And this year India! Obviously they have the talent, the only problem is nurturing it.

ireland win and now will surely go through to the next stage while pakistan will be leaving the world cup early

thats just amazing :)

all those super 8 draws that already have pakistan in it will have to change now :)
