Worst Actor

Right we've got the creme de la creme being touted in the best actor thread but who is scraping the barrel in terms of acting quality.

There are plenty which come to mind, Tom Cruise for his stellar performance in Far and Away, Keanu Reeves and his wooden quality in well almost every film he's been in.

Having just done a google search for bad actors I came across a top 10 list where ... wait for it Keanu Reeves and Tom Cruise took the top spot. I think the same list is being a bit generous to Ben Affleck, he has taken bad acting to new levels with his performance in Pearl Harbour, not to mention his parodied role in Dazed and Confused.

So who else has taken acting to such despairing levels of inadequacy???

To be fair, it was a horrific script. I mean, it was some of the worst dialogue i've heard in a movie. Talk about catering to the masses, i believe your average Sun reader would be feeling a little bored with such dumbed down language.


My choices have to be either: -

Nicholas Cage
or
Tobey Maguire

These are both shockingly bad actors in my opinion.

hmmmm tough call... Worst actor is a pretty large category, so might be easier to narrow it down to 'worst performace by serious actor' - in which case Cage, Cruise and Afflect (seriously, this guy just plain stinks in everything) definately qualify.

Personally though as far as terrible acting goes I'd nominate the kid who played Anakin from Star Wars Episode 1. I mean f***... that entire film was enough of a joke as it was without having some runt make every scene sound like set up scene for a prono (ie all the dialogue sounding like it's being read off a teleprompter).

In fairness Lukas wrote the scripts for those films and did do a woeful job, that said so did the kid and the urge to smack him round the head certainly grew throughout the film.

Didn't Samantha Mumba have a part in a Spielberg movie? Forget which one it was, but I saw a scene with her and put my hand over my face with embarassment. Beautiful babe, but sheesh.

Eddie Izzard is very unconvincing delivering other people's lines.

Quentin Tarrantino is a bad actor, but so bad as to be "good".

Cruise has had some turkey perfomances - "War of the Worlds" - but he is one of the best. And Kathleen Turner is scathing about her co-star Nicholas Cage in Peggy Sue Got Married.

Nicholas Cage and Tom Cruise are the 2 that stick out like sore thumbs every time for me. Many more obvious ones such as Affleck etc which are pretty much a given.

Sylvester Stallone is utterly useless, as is Jean Claude VD... cheese factor at it's greatest.

He has only ever played the 'harder-than-a-chinese-riddle' good guy who kicks everybodys ass

With the same hair style everytime!

All his performances are just a mushy blur to me

To be fair, that was the key to him being utterly outstanding as Neo in the Matrix trilogy.

I was about to vote for Steven Seagal....but i realized we talk about actors

Then i'll probably go for Nicholas Cage, in all of his films he acts the same way. He portrays a psycho killer (Face off) the same way as a biology scientist (The Rock) and exactly like a car thief (Gone in 60 seconds).
And we're supposed to believe him....ooh c'mon! :lol:

Worst actor in Friends? Not talking about favourite characters, but the one with the lamest delivery/timing/conviction.

Rachel was the best, then Joey. Ross did great slapstick. Monica was second worst.

Fibi was the worst.

David Schwimmer is a complete tool of an actor, absolutely woeful in Friends, he's worthy of a place in this thread

Hayden Christenson is definitely on my list. I know there were bad scripts for the newer Star Wars films but he was just plain awful.
