And now all British players out in the first week. A bit embarrassing last night from Boulter after bigging herself up before the tournament that she wanted to be world number 1. There’s ambition but also delusion when she’s ranked 89 in the world. Media like the Times don’t help.

Carlos Alcaraz beating Novak Djokovic to the Wimbledon men's singles title was primarily for himself - but it can also give hope to the rest of the younger generation.

Good article. Felt it had to come sooner or later but this defo felt like a passing of the torch moment like when Federer beat Sampras on centre court to end his run at Wimbledon.
Of course doesn’t mean the end of Novak, can still see him winning more slam(s) but definitely about time the next gen. start beating him at them.

Andy Murray will make a final decision on Tuesday whether he is fit enough to play in the Wimbledon singles later that day.

Well played Emma - good to see her playing well, moving well, trusting her game and trusting her body - and my personal favourite attribute for any sportsperson - she's happy and visibly enjoys playing the game.

And she pulls out of the mixed doubles to protect her wrist, so Murray's last appearance was fittingly with his brother.
Never looked comfortable in her body today - wrist and back, then the left leg.
Only started grunting with full effort late in the second set, stopped again after the slip.
Body language after the slip was that the leg was okay, but that she needed reassurance of that - knee may have hyper extended, but mothing visible that would cause the ankle problems, had the knee, calf and ankle all examined, 1 paracetamol, and some lostening treatment on her back.
First couple of games after that break, she obviously didn't trust the leg, and she never got back to looking comfortable, and trusting her body.
Entirely understandable given her last couple of years, but really not helpful. Hope she's got a good sports psychologist, and that her physio is well versed in modern pain science.

Emma needs to play a full season on the WTA without injury - easier said than done. She can’t be expected to just turn up to Wimbledon and win it like she did with the US open, when she first burst onto the scene.
