The 08/09 Guinness Premiership season is about to begin, so the questions needs to be asked, who will perform this season... Will Northampton be able to establish their old form in the Premiership, will Gloucester manage to overcome Leicester for this years ***le.

Lots of questions to be asked and they will be answered over the coming months, as the season unfolds... Also how the ELV's will affect the premiership and the way teams play.

So lets start discussions :)

Newcastle might as well go now. And they've built a good strong squad so I reckon Sale will do it this year.

Newcastle for the drop. Wilkinson to move to France midway through the year to play second-fiddle to some nobody Frenchman.

Top 4:

Wasps
Gloucester
Sale
Harlequins

The rest:

Bath
Leicester
London Irish
Worcester
Saracens
Northampton
Bristol
Newcastle

Top 4 results: Wasps to pwn Harlequins and Sale to beat Gloucester away from home in their annual choking. Sale to lose narrowly to Wasps at Twickenham with Cipriani kicking a last minute drop-goal for them.

Stale & Quims won't make the top 4. Fact :p

Sorry, you're miles off there. You appear to be predicting Worcester to avoid a relegation dogfight.

Damn you and your puns! :%#%#:
If Sale don't make the Top 4 then I'd be very surprised...
Oh, also, shut up! :bleh!:

The 'relegation dogfight' will be between Bristol and Newcastle with Worcester, Northampton and Saracens just ahead of them. Well...I think, anyway...

The way they blew it at home on the last game of the regular season means I'd ask questions about their mental strength when the chips are down. They've got some good recruits in the off season but they've also lost some very good players as well... I'm very suprised for example that they let Foden go.

Still.... we'll just have to wait and see.

I don't think our mental toughness is much of a problem. I mean, we beat Leicester away with the thrashing we received in the EDF Cup hanging in their minds, and they also beat the Quins away when they needed to. I think our main problem is at 9, as Wigglesworth keeps giving our backline slow ball. Peel is a specialist at distribution (when on form), so hopefully Sale will have an exciting season with McAlister, Lamont and Tait receiving quick ball off a solid platform...
Then again, I could be wrong and we may implode (like France a la Stade de France) in every single game. We'll see though. :D

Saracens to be at the top by the beginning of December, then lose every game until April and then win just enough to get to seventh.

While in the European competition they'll take a mighty quarter-final scalp in Viadana before going down to Toulon in the semi's.

Yeah, in a thrilling 33-35 loss in which the ball went nowhere near the inside of a Saracens jumper all game :p

AIM FOR THE TOP! Thats our motto!

Whoever voted Northampton instead of Newcastle is a raging <strike>homosexual</strike> Prestwick.

I'm surprised so many people have voted for Sale to win. Are our fans really that <strike>correct?</strike> optimistic?

Gloucester to repeat as GP champs....

Far too much firepower in the backs, and the addition of Barkley shores up the points kicking department. A solid pack with a pacy and industrious back-row for the open game, and a hard pack that isn't off the plot when the game needs to be played in tight.

Not sure who would be able to stop them, although I could see Wasps, Sale and Leicester putting up some good fights. Should be an exciting season to be sure.

would like to see gloucester go all the way for once,
Either newcastle or worcester to go down in my opinion
hoping for worcester :p

Relegation will be a 4-way scrap between Newcastle, Worcester, Bristol and Saracens this year. Saracens of course being the most likely to be dropped.

I assume you mean to say "Gloucester to repeat and finish top". They're NOT champions, you are aware?

Barkley won't make that much difference anyway, he's only been brought in as a replacement for Patterson and probably won't get many games ahead of Allen. Dean Ryan isn't <strike>his illegitimate father unlike</strike> as biased to Bath players as Brian Ashton is.
