Yellow jersey running up Ventoux - race committee do something!!!

Results issued as if nowt happened but presentation of jersey delayed - one hopes that common sense prevails as if not it gives anyone the go ahead to deliberately take out a rider they do not like.

"If they do not do something, a rider strike may ensue" Boardman!

That was insane. Had to happen sometime though, when the gendarme seem to do nothing.

They'd broken Quintana, so whilst common sense ensued with the times, they would have put another minute or so on Quintana if the idiots got off the road.

Yesterday was 'It's only a 4 man break, what can they do?' I think a lot of them missed who the 4 were ;)

Never seen anything like it. This race just keeps throwing up the unexpected. At least common sense prevailed on the times.

Just surprised that more fans don't get punched. The disturbing number dressed like Borat all deserve a good thump.

I only saw the highlights, but the weather didn't look too bad. Shame the stage was cut short, the racing could have got even more lively.

TT tomorrow. Froome's not too shabby at those either, he really is a complete rider. Wiggo was great in 2012, but I think Froome would have won that too given the chance. That would have had him closing in on a 4th win now which would have him up with the greats.

In live coverage, they showed the wind in the trees regularly and it was pretty fierce! The highlights basically concentrated in the last 15 clicks or so and they were protected by the forest they were riding in......

I agree about Wiggins and remember that Froome was ordered back to support Wiggins when he, Froome, could have easily gone on to open up a large time deficit on the hairy one!!!

Froome didn't have the TT ability to take on Wiggins in that tour. It was only one stage where he was told to wait. EBH was pretty awesome in that tour, and would love to see him get some stage wins at some time.

Not sure about that. Wiggo was in amazing TT form, but don't forget that in the TT stage where Wiggo sealed it Froome was 2nd just over a minute behind. Wiggo won by 3.21 eventually and I'm pretty sure that Froome could have taken more than that out of him in the high stuff if he'd have been given the chance. We'll never know, but after that one incident he very much rode to team orders and often looked like he had more in the tank.

Wiggo is an awesome TTer though. I went to his hour and if was amazing to see how he held his form despite being in a world of pain.

With you OH.....

Whatever, I do think that Froome showed he has learnt how to TT after today and other such recent performances?

Believing, as I do, that Froome is in for the victory in Paris, I am switching support to Yates and hoping he hangs on to his podium position to the end.....remarkable achievement!

This tour has shown that the old guard could be changing quickly and probably only Froome will be there to compete with the new guys in the block!

Is this the end for Quintana, Rodriguez (well he is retiring!), Contador (although he was unfortunate this year) etc?

Think I predicted Yates (both brothers) a couple of years ago as future Sky riders. Getting so crazy that I wouldn't be surprised to see Wiggo's team switch from being a 'feeder team' to a world tour team in a few years.

Rodriguez is racing for Katusha, so don't be surprised if he suddenly does a 'Ben Johnson' and wins by 30mins on the Champs.

Contador was unfortunate. I don't think he had much chance this year though, and knew it after seeing Froome's form.

The way Quintana was broken yesterday was a huge shock. He looked like he'd been wearing a fantastic poker face until then, not looking like he's exerting much effort, whereas it looked like he didnt have anything more to give.

Very interesting 3rd week ahead, if he comes into form as usual (although he may be so far down by then, that it won't make any difference).

Froome is looking a different class at the moment.

Froome has ridden a very smart race - everyone knew he was surrounded by a strong team, but he's shown that he's dominant everywhere - uphill, downhill and on the TT which I think has been a deliberate show of all round strength to dispirit rivals. I think it's unlikely that anyone can break him, but unless they attack him hard and regularly over the next few days it'll be a very serene procession into Paris.

Agree that Adam Yates in particular has Sky written all over him. How would Simon's non intentional doping ban fit with Sky's policy?

Can't see Simon ever joining now (although he was apparently asked previously, but wanted to stay with Adam).

Kittel clutching at straws yesterday, track training really working out well for Cav. Not physically, but mentally. He's definitely timing things better.

Interesting day today with some proper climbs.

Could be replacement for Froome when time comes?

Delighted for Cav - doe he have any chance at the Olympics? Have no idea if it is a sprinter's course as not that interested in the Olympics somehow?

Will miss the Iive feed for the rest of this week that sees me training it around Britain (in Kyle of Lochalsh and Penzance within 30 hours via London!! ) but hopefully catch most of the highlights.......

Well that's job done then. If it wasn't already.

Have to agree after great TT but biggest shock must be failures of Quintana and Nibili? Could they really be using this event as a warm up for the Olympics?

If so, certainly reinforces my view that professional sports such as cycling, golf and tennis should not be at the Olympics which has lost its allure since professionalism - which, I hasten to add had to happen but then one could legalize doping using same arguments!!!

I don't think so. Nibali won the Giro so can be excused. Not sure what's up with Quintana. I just think they know they're up against a better man and have the aura of the beaten.

I certainly agree that golf and tennis shouldn't be in the OG. Cycling is different due to the variety of disciplines and cross overs between road and track.

I'll be in a minority here but I don't think sevens has any place in the OG either. Might as well include 5 a side or T20 cricket!

I will second your views on 7's and as no one other than Rich Taff reads this thread, I think we are safe!!

Did not Froome win the Giro and the TdF in the same year or was it the Dauphinaise?
