. That is a testimony of God's power, at least of some spiritual being that wants us to be good folks.

But thats the bloody problem isn't? It's mostly the religious peoples of the planet who have caused all the pain and suffering in the name of their "lord"... don't you see this fundemental dilema with religion?
Sanz,

I think that's the fundamental problem with assholes.

Those who are happy and willing to pound their message of God's word into our skulls, with hammers if need be.

They sully the name and word of God . . . cause they're assholes. [/b]
You've a very fair point cpt, assholes are in all walks of life, especially in Texas and Queensland
<
And your right too, as a couple of my close friends are quite religious (whatever religion), but are also truly compassionate wonderful people.

Sanzar......

Your opinions are very good and there is a lot of sense in what you say.  I can see you are not totally closed minded towards either the existence or non-existence of some supreme being but I feel you are in fact fairly open minded to try and discover the truth......whatever that may be.

I believe if you continue to keep an open mind then you will find out what I believe all humans do have access to as a right.  The meaning of life and our existence.

Good luck.
Yeah, I sorta grew up with very contrasting parents when it came to spirituality... My mum is the sort of person that loves star signs and has had out of body experiences and claims to have had contact with the dead etc, whereas my father was a communist (jeez St Helens is gonna love readin that!) in his youth and thinks it's all a load of rubbish... So they both thought they'd try and interfer as little as possible in me and my brothers spiritual developement. So I went to scripture etc as a kid and learnt alot about christianity and also a bit of buddhism, but nothing past primary school.
So anyway, I often find myself very ambivilant about spirituality, but in general I am put off by organised religion because they often seem too much like they are just another corporation trying to sell their product at any cost...

Exactly, September 11, The Crusades, Aparthied, all done in the name of ''God'' and all resulting in mass death and suffering

A machine can claim self-awareness but it does not have a soul. When it dies, there will not be some spiritual part of it that lives on. sanzar, I understand you would be divided because of what religion seems to do, it's not that Catholic or the Muslim or the Jewish religion that tells you to go out and kill everyone (even though in the Old Testament there a little bit of that, the New Testament tells you not to) it's the crackpots who join each of these religions who try and twist meanings to suit them. I recently saw a movie where the actors played the terrorists who would fly the airplanes on september 11th, these people were not evil, they were brainwashed and crazy, they thought they were doing the right thing.

First of all, captian, I'm not sure what your refering to
<
, I don't take anything personally on these forums, just chillin'
<
Maybe somone else posted something and you got us mixed up? no problemmo though

Second, guys, do yourself a favour and find those video's, please.

As far as the Tsunami's go, well, ofcourse it's from God. In revelations it's revealed that in the end-times natural disasters will increase, the world can only go on that much longer before it comes to an end, so everything in the chapter makes perfect sense and is really scary to unbelievers. When we lived in harmony with the animals, everything was chill, but we humans mest up. Take note, all the animals fled inland and up the hills a long time before there was any sign of the tsunami...
<
, makes you think, doesn't it. With Noah, God promised not to take out the whole world again, remember that only Noahs family was spared, the Tsunami didn't exactly take out everything, should be regarded as a big wake-up call.

September 11, was done by extremist muslims where possesed by demons.
As far as the other goes, people was mislead by the devil, lost the plot. I bet you'll find hundreds of satanist posing as Christians trying to misslead you, that's the devils oldest trick. With apartheid my forfathers made a huge mistake, and in Rassies' "black population shrinking thread" I explained thoroughly why they where wrong, how they were mislead, and how God punished/is punishing our once great nation for what we have done. Apartheid certainly wasn't from God...trust me.

The world's biggest problem is that they see all these posing christians, people who give you the wrong impression. If you knew the people living around me, you would start to understand what christians is all about. PLEASE go threw the videos explaining creation, then we can start debating(explaining) The Lord Jesus Christ great great salvation

I may be getting a bit technical here but as far as I know after Noah's Ark God created the third Covenant vowing never to intervene in any way whatsoever.

So as far as the tsunami is concerned it happened because there was an earthquake measuring 9 on the Richter scale which occured undersea thus the ensuing tsunami, nothing to do with God.

True, the earth quake sent 100,000 sqaure km of deep see up 10 metres!!! Can you imagine a body of water that massive moving up that much all at once? No bloody wonder the tsunami's were so bad!
So no offence DawieDieKabouter, but I think you've been misled if you think the tsunami was statement of gods... Just as the Japanese were wrong to think the massive typhoon storm that wiped out 1000 invading mongolian ships from reaching the shores of japan in the 1200's was sent from god to protect them... Which incidently is where you get the word kamikaze, "kami" meaning god and "kaze" meaning wind, roughly translating as "heavenly wind".

I thought you'd enjoy that one! But it's true, he was a commy untill about the age of thirty when he lost faith in the whole thing and then he started recruiting for the labour party...

I must research the Labour Party in Australia.

Our Labour party isn't particularly socialist....

And thats why they got in power and stayed there. When they were socialist they got in power in times of financial difficulties. Even then they were just as crap as the conservatives.

Neither is ours anymore... But once upon a time it represented working people.

God promised that he won't wipe out the whole world like that again, not just intervene.

No-one can deny that the Tsunami was caused by an earthquake, but the point stands that it all came from God. He controls the universe...

If you want to read some scary stuff, go and read Revelations in The Bible.

2 Questions

1. Why would God send the Tsunami

2. Im not sure about you, but I would call killing over 100,000 people intervening

and speaking of Revelations... if my memory serves me correctly, that is the final book in the bible isnt it?

So if I understand you correctly you're saying that God is evil because he has caused the muder of innocent people, his children. I didn't think that God was vengeful.

Soo... if god controls the universe why isnt there more planets exactly the same ours in OUR solar system that contain life? why limit it to one planet?

go and watch the videos...all of you...please...your doing yourself a favour!

Ripper:
1. To give everyone a wake-up call and remind them that they aren't in control, and fragile. That they must change their wayes because there's no messing with God.
2. Yes, it's intervening, just as I stated, if you read my previous post again you'll see that I said that he WILL intervene but not wipe out everyone...
3. Yes, now go and read it

An Tarbh: You don't understand correctly

. He gave you an oppertunity to wake up, not take vengeance, His vengeance is kept for the end, when the dissobedient goes to hell. If I have an apple tree with rotten apples on it, I think I'm correct if I get rid of the rotten apples. I'm in ***led to. The christians who perished in the tsunami, is going to heaven, what could ever be better than that?! It would be great if I was one of them...God is as mercyfull as can be, he gave up his son to give YOU an oppertunity to get back to him in heaven, where everything is perfect. If he wanted, he could have left you for the devil, the evil one...

All_Blacks_Hurricanes_Lions_Fan: Why question what your Creator decided? If I want to eat breakfast once in the morning, I will. So it be, why have more? What we humans think is very intelligent, is usually very stupid in whole. Example, most of the world is living a sinfull life, one that's temporary, and they will pay FOREVER for it. Most people don't even bother to figure out what life is about, they are like headless chickens running of a hill to their death. Eternity, is a concept the human brain struggles to comprehend. Just live the right way now, and reap the rewards forever. If most of us can't even take that all in stride, put life in perspective and make it our main goal in life, how can we question what God has done, The One with all the knowledge.

I must point out certain things in what you say Dawie, as much as I am in agreement with sin leading to hell. We are not sent to hell as "justice" for our sins in this mortal life, there's purgatory for that. The thing about sin is that it leads you away from God. You are led away eventually to the point where you say who cares about God? I don't need him. This is where a person goes to hell. God loves every single one of the humans who have ever walked this earth, they are his children, no matter how vile they were in this life, he does not "send" anyone to hell. They send themselves. When you die it's like you need to make one last choice, God or no God. I don't think any fool in his right mind would actually say hell, but certainly there are fools who will say no God. It's never too late to become a good person, it's just that after alot of sinning and no attempts to stop, you can't see God anymore, and that will make harder, I don't know about impossible to get into Heaven. As for the Tsunami disaster, you ppl are saying bullshit about how this sounds much like the book of revelation and what not, the thing about revelation is that everything sounds like it, there are natural disasters all over the place, diseases all over the place, as Captainamerica mentioned, this is an imperfect world, if we're getting flooded and drowned it's possibly because we're doing ourselves no good by not praying. Granted, I think sometimes God means for you to die, but that doesn't mean he sends a disaster every time, and if you look past the tsunami to the people who survived it and how the whole world answered the call for help, perhaps this is a sign that there is a God afer all.

Depends.

The Muslims who died in the tsunami are sitting on golden couches in paradise now.

The Buddhists, well, if they've achieved nirvana are sitting pretty. If not, they've been reincarnated and will be moving next door to you in the next few years.

Who's to say? But I know for certain that fundamentalist Christians do not hold all the answers.
