[2024 Six Nations] Ireland vs Italy - 11/02/24

Italy's A plan: Bore Ireland to submission
Italy's B plan: Bore the fans so they stop watching and we'll forget they even played.

Ireland probably have another gear if needed, was HK always this quick or has he gained a yard or two?

What's surprising to me is that Italy aren't firing any shots even with possession. The one thing they were developing was a bit of a dangerous attacking game. The Irish defence has had to do very little.

Game over now it's like everyone just hanging there waiting for first person to leave and then there will be an exodus

This Byrne and Crowley on the field is interesting. It's like we set at every breakdown even after 10 breaks.

Alot of positives. In fairness Harry Byrne did well also amd 10 is looking healthy. My only big complaint is if Keenan injury is serious

Pretty much what I expected. Good settler for Crowley and McCarthy. Players you'd expect looked good

If Keenan is ok it's a very good run out for us.

Crowley was really good. He wasn't exactly shying away from it in previous games but today he displayed a new level of confidence.

Good hit out.

Just a solid, all round performance.

Happy HB went well. Crowley growing exactly how you'd want, kicking will come. Hopefully Keenan will be back for Twickenham, would still strongly back us with HB 10 and Crowley 15 v Wales at home.

I agree, but we need a huge asterisk here as Italy were not good at all.
Dunno how much was Italy not being good and Italy not being allowed to be good.

Sean Edwards commented last week that Ireland turned the ball over 4 (four) times against France. It wouldn't surprise me if it were a single digits number today too. Its hard to build much of anything without the ball.

This exactly. Crowley will be fine as his mental resilience is excellent and today was just a yips on the kicking.
Agree on HB and Crowley at 10 and 15 we'd be fine but 15 is such a specialist spot and alot of our good stuff goes through Keenan there.
I'm sure Jack would be fine 15 or whoever is there but Keenan has the lines mastered.

Joe McCarthy is growing yo be almost like a Skelton like presence for Ireland and not being critical.of Ryan but I think he is sinking further behind starters. And it isn't him being poor but more Beirne and McCarthy are going to crazy heights.

Apart from the first, all from the right side of the pitch IIRC. Coupled with the breeze, probably difficult to be confident drawing across the ball.
