It is a genuine shame that Paddy Jackson got himself into such trouble, as he looked like a proper long-term replacement for Sexton, much more than Carty does. And who could possibly argue that John Cooney is still an inferior player to Conor Murray?

For all that England have done well, the glaringly obvious thing is that they haven't looked like scoring through a set piece move or running attacks. Tight around rucks/mauls or scavenging errors from kicks? Sure.

Worst thing is that if we kicked our very kickable and hadn't gifted England two stupid tries the scored would actually be level.

Obviously it's more complicated than that and we were never going to get anything from this performance but still frustrating.
