England v South Africa - 26/11/2022 - KO 4.30 GMT

Genuine question chaps- I love Maro Itoje but does anyone feel like the lad needs a rest or his minutes managed?

The guy who burst onto the scene looks a bit flat to me at the moment. When you look at the Lions Tours, World Cup, and Summer tours, I don't recall a time where he has rested?

Hasn't been at his best for England for a season now IMO
England rely too much on him. Need someone else to step up

Terrible, terrible game, it wouldn't change the scoreline and SA were the better team by a country mile but the officiating is amongst the poorest in recent memory, initial try looked like some blocking to me, the other try where he caught the ball when on his knees then precedes to score and it stands (he's on the ground, he's out the game…), then the constant slowling of the ruck which was constantly allowed, I did find it slightly odd that Faf was allowed to be a right tool at the back of an England scrum yeh JVP told he couldn't and to stay. None of this changes the outcome of the game.
Jimbo van der Merwe

Itoje and Curry two massive players for us...look shadows.

Farrell is just dynamic at 12 that we need.
Manu...so Past it...

Back 5 of the pack just looked under powered.
Mako twisted like a pretzel
Etc
Etc

I put all the blame squarely on Jones.

******** to those who say he's got some incredible secret plan. He has had one plan all along. Manu being fit and we finally get to see it and he's past it. Jones butchers bringing in new players by either bringing them in too quickly at bad times, bringing them in too slowly, bringing them in the discarding them for no reason or no bringing them in at all (Yes I know that's basically everything, but he seems to do it wrong for almost every player). We can't do the basics right, we don't look like a team on the same page and almost every aspect of England's game has gone backwards since the last world cup.

RFU hasn't got the balls or money to ditch him so we're stuck. I'm honestly now going to decide who else I want to win the world cup because quite simply it ain't going to be ******* England so I'm not even going to waste my time pretending they might.

Depends what it is. I've had shoulder and an ACL dislocation.

Shoulder healed OK. ACL retired me (as I think @Which Tyler already knows). Could have got it fixed, but it was a grade 4 so pretty gnarly surgery. The specialist I saw basically said, 'unless you're being paid a lot of money to play, this is it for you …'.
I dislocated collarbone 2 ops, 4 months in hospital with other complications, 6 months in a body cast

So i missed the game and wont have time to watch it so how bad was it? And any positives.

Before you answer my guesses are we tried to play them at their own game and got out muscled and out kicked.

We picked Smith Faz Manu and it didnt work or creat space for the back 3.

Steward was solid. I bet Freeman had some good touches but could have done with time last couple of weeks over Nowell to get some gametime before thrown in a game like this.

Oh and Mako got destroyed at the scrum.

We hoped for a comeback like last week that never came.

How close am i?

Looked like the RWC final - completely shellshocked by the pace and physicality of South Africa, never had a foothold in the game and had zero idea how to attack or defend against them

And any positives.
Not being hyperbolic when I say no, I honestly can't think of a positive to take away from it

Correct

Not really - Steward wasn't bad but definitely made some uncharacteristic errors. Can't remember Freeman touching the ball apart from once when they were playing knockon advantage to SA anyway

Did you even need to write this? What next? "I predict that the water in the water bottles will be wet" :p

Yup

Well played South Africa comprehensively out played in every facet of the game tonight. Had tickets for the game but didn't go, glad I saved the money.

I've just about had it with EJ England. Don't mind getting beat by a better side, this team are devoid of ideas and an identity, unless it's 'we're really **** at rugby'.

Yup
What about replacments? Counter the bomb squad? Prediction: no

Slade did well? Who did he come on for? Prediction: yes but not enough.

Nowell...prediction: just no and thats from a Chiefs fan.

Why has Eddie not looked at Radwan or Murley
Why has Jack Willis barely played.
Why has Ted Hill not even had a sniff
Ditto Ollie Lawrence
Ben Earl?
George McGuigan?
Hugh Tizzard?
Bevan Rodd?

Shambles

Tick - came on at halftime, still took a beating at the scrum. Genge more fired up than anyone else but didn't do much. Stuart got a nasty looking arm injury in a scrum a few minutes from the end

Tick - came on for Smith who injured his ankle in the first half but played about 40mins more. Scored a try

Cross - actually contributed on attack and made a nice break, though none of it was anything particularly special, just standard wing play (i.e. stand out on the wing and receive the ball then set off) as someone mentioned above (Which Tyler, maybe?) any of our other wing options would've made more of it as on the break he had acres of space ahead of him but got chased down easily. Not saying Radwan would've scored but not saying he definitely wouldn't have
